kmvargo
I have several old Gateway Solo 3300 laptops. They were originaly designed for Win98. Specs - 500MHz Mobile PIII 128MB RAM Max 12.1" display 800*600 Without booting up or opening it, I think 11GB HDD (this can be changed though) 10/100 NIC but no wireless (could be added through PCI card or usb but there is only 1 usb) External Floppy or DVD I know I run Win98 or Win2K on them. XP is slow but installable. I would like to try & learn Linux but would like it to have a GUI. So my question is what can or would you do with these (other than throw them away)? If Linux, what flavor & version. Or what other projects would you come up for these.
Charles
Could try DSL (Damn Small Linux) or Puppy Linux. I doubt any of the newer distros would run (well) on it. Other then that.. it's junk.. maybe donate it to Goodwill or something and get it recycled. Not worth bothering to upgrade stuff.
MRGRIM
eBay. Prehaps you'd get $25-$50 per laptop, you said you had several? $175-$350, add some of your own cash to it and buy something useful :)
