spall
Hi there, I'm looking to purchase an Alfa USB wireless adapter and am currently looking at two setups. The first is a 1000 mW model with a 9DBi antenna. The second is a 2000 mW model with a 5DBi antenna. Which would give me maximum range? Thanks. manouche
Hi there, I'm looking to purchase an Alfa USB wireless adapter and am currently looking at two setups. Wifi is Bi-directional (Tx & Rx ) and an increase in Tx Power will by definition only increase the Tx range whereas antenna gain will increase both the TX EIRP and the Rx sensitivity (though you are always trading off something ie directionality and acceptance). Therefore I would say the former (especially as you probably want directionality to "target").
Seshan
Don't go for the 2000mw, it's the N version and I have read people having problems with it with backtrack. Also what Manouche said.
