Smuuv
Does the BIOS installed version of CompuTrace still phone home if you boot with a live Linux CD? I've heard conflicting things and wondered if anyone here could clarify this. Thanks.
digip
Let me ask you this, how is it going to call home, if you dont plug it into the internet? Does it have its own hardware and cell card? The bios just starts the basic hardware of a system and finds the disk and OS. Once the OS starts, it takes over from the bios. Unless this system is hardware based, and an installed device with its own bios and code to phone home(which would still need to get online to do so), I dont see an issue booting a live disc. Booting a live disc should not allow it to phone home since you are bypassing the software in windows, and from what I have read, its software based and only for windows and mac, so basically, you could boot linux and format the damn hard drive and reinstall windows or whatever you wanted on it.
