Server 2000

I just got a server from work that has Windows Server 2000 installed.

The person who gave it to me could not remember the administrator password and the only way to get it would be from the IT guys and they would never give it to me.

It won't let me boot from a CD only from a floppy or from the internal harddrives.

I need a way to either overwrite the current password or extract the SAM so I can crack it myself.

It has no data on it that I want I just need the server.

BEcause I have no acesss to anything.

I can't even acess the disks without a password.

And yes it does not support cd boots from the bios.

It is a server.

They come preconfigured with an OS already installed.

Keep it in the thread, no point PMing me about this.

You can just install a different server OS, like linux or BSD, or another windows varient, which would overright the disk.

There is a script that Puppy linux has where if you are trying to boot off of a flash drive, and the bios doesn't have the boot option, you can throw the script on a floppy and it will boot from the floppy, which is booting from the USB drive.

So, basically, the Computer thinks its booting from a floppy, but the floppy is just a path for the Flash drive. Perhaps if there is something to do that, it could be modified for booting a Cd.

Just try this, which should work from a floppy. Not sure about scsi and it only works with local passwords, so if its still set up as active directory try thisinstead.

If that doesn't work, format the disc and using bootable floppys install a new OS of your choice.
