3TeK Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 So i wiped a customers server and put ESXi 4 on it. It's a dell poweredge 1950. It has dual Quad-core CPUs 1.66 i believe with 8GB of ram. He is wanting to know how many machines he can put on it total. I looked on VMware's website but couldn't find anything as far a table or chart or anything. Thanks Quote
lopez1364 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 A general rule of thumb is 3-4 VMs per CPU core. As usual this depends on the load of the VMs. Quote
VaKo Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Memory is the limiting factor here, so I would say 8 2008 installs at most, but you can get away with more if your doing less. Quote
