Usenet is not free. You either pay for a monthly subscription (such as on giganews) or you can use the newsgroups provided by your ISP (which you are still paying for). ISP's limit the amount of traffic for newsgroups tremendously, so its better to go with a monthly subscription with your fav usenet site. In either scenario you are going to have to pay money, i am unaware of any "free usenet" service.
