Psionic Fungus
Trying to crack my home wireless network for testing with this new netbook I got. Acer Aspire One. Has an Atheros AR5007EG wireless card, however I can't find any peek drivers that are compatible with it. From what I read all atheros chipsets are compatible with the peek protocol, but it's not working. I'm currently using Windows XP, as I just unboxed it as of 15 minutes ago.. Does any one know how to continue from here?
dr0p
Put BT3 (or BT4 depending on preference) on a USB and have fun WEP cracking. Windows fails at WEP cracking and all of the other fun wifi things you can do.

BTW, is backtrack 4 out of beta yet? reason being, wifi didnt work out the box (you know how my luck has been with my atheros...) so fun.Factor= 0;
Psionic Fungus
Put BT3 (or BT4 depending on preference) on a USB and have fun WEP cracking. Windows fails at WEP cracking and all of the other fun wifi things you can do. Okay, made three usb keys, each one using BT3_final, BT3final_usb, or BT4beta. They all boot up, I get the command prompt. Login using root/toor xconf then startx (also tried just startx) And I get the following: Markers: (--) probed, (**) from config file, (==) default setting, (++) from command line, (!!) notice, (II) informational, (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown. But I don't understand why. Hell, if it can run Windows and it's memory hogging self why not BT? Maybe it has to do with the USB sticks I used, or what? No idea. Psionic Fungus
Nevermind. If you type the command fixvesa before starting the GUI it works. Took me a bit to find it, but it works. Thought I'd post how I got it working incase anybody has the same problems.

So if your looking to do this not gonna work. The AR5007EG does support monitor mode(I was concerned about it not supporting monitor mode as I read about.). There are no windows peek drivers for the AR5007EG. However under linux, once you initialize monitor mode on wifi0, it creates a virtual interface of ath0 in monitor mode, and you can go from there, and crack all the wifi you want.
