balmung135
Ok so i have gotten my fon+ in the mail. i checked it and it is running 7.1.1rc1(or however it is described) firmware and i would like to replace it with the latest jasager. Is it as simple as plugging it in to the ethernet of my computer and using fon flash or ap51? i have the lzma and root files from jasager's site. Psionic Fungus
Just got my Fon+ today. Have similar question, running firmware version 1.1.0 r2 on a Fon+.
digininja
You'll need to jailbreak it first, follow the instructions in the wiki but use either the Piranha or Jasager firmware instead of the standard OpenWrt firmware. Stop after you've finished flashing and gained ssh access as all the packages are installed for you.

Psionic Fungus
Successfully flashed with Jasager v.1.0 (http://www.digininja.org/files/jasager_firmware_1.0.tar.bz2) Connecting via SSH to 192.168.1.1 in order to enable wireless as it's not broadcasting(as to be expected) Successfully Connected Login:root, admin password: root, admin Any combination is denied as invalid password. What's the deal?
digininja
telnet in first, user root no password. Then run passwd to set the password. This disables telnet and enables ssh with the specified password

I've flashed with the Jasager firmware v.1.0 from your site, Digininja. Broadcasting wifi now. Transferred all the *.ipk files via WinSCP to /tmp/ What's happening? I'm guessing it doesn't have the proper dependencies to issue the ipkg command, however you said with a Fon+ all you had to do was flash and then stop as it installed all the dependencies? digininja
8.09 uses opkg not ipkg, use that instead
digininja
Actually, ignore that, you are going too far. The firmware has everything installed, stop now and you have a working system.
Psionic Fungus
Then why can't I access the web interface?
digininja
Jasager is on port 1471 by default, try that. If you want webif then you'll have to install that manually with opkg
Psionic Fungus
Also I'm trying: "opkg install kmod-gpio_2.6.21.5-atheros-1_mips.ipk" "opkg install jasager_2.1-1_mips.ipk" And when I install Jasager 2.1 mips it still says that it is missing the kmod-gpio dependency. Even after reboot.
taiyed14
Jasager is already installed. It's already to go. http://192.168.1.1:1471

Even after reboot. It is all build in for you. That is the point of the firmware, you don't need to install anything for Jasager to work. Flash with the firmware then hit 192.168.1.1:1471 in your browser and you are there, no extra packages, no need to run opkg, no need to copy any other files to the Fon. If you want webif then you will need to copy things but that is independent of Jasager and not required. I'd suggest reflashing again because if you've managed to install any packages the you may have gone backwards in versions. The Jasager installed with the firmware is the latest. Psionic Fungus
Okay, got it reflashed and it is working now. Able to access the webif. Interface and Karma are Up and On. But it isn't responding to any probe requests. I have three laptops on(all windows), each with a proverbial shit-ton of preferred wireless networks, however they're only seeing the real access points. I know I must be missing something. digininja
Turn off the real APs, it may be a signal strength issue.
Psionic Fungus
Turn off the real APs, it may be a signal strength issue. Tried. Kind of worked. It responded to a single probe request, and a computer automatically connected. Other computers weren't detecting any APs. In other words: It's kind of intermittent. nmaas87
Tried. Kind of worked. It responded to a single probe request, and a computer automatically connected. Other computers weren't detecting any APs. In other words: It's kind of intermittent. Funny thing here too: I needed to reflash my brandnew Fon 2201 a second time until the Webif worked! First time was ok and OpenWrt and such booted, but first after second time complete flashing according to your Website - the webif did work.
