Search-find and copy

Recommended Posts

I wrote some code to do this in this post:

this was the code:

import os,shutil
exts = [".txt",".doc",".docx",".xls",".xlsx",".ppt",".pptx"]
startpath = "C:\\Documents and Settings\\"
def find(none, directory, filenames):
    for file in filenames:
        for ext in exts:
            if file.endswith(ext):
                fullfile = os.path.join(directory,file)
                except IOError:
                    pass # access denied
os.path.walk(startpath,find, None)

is there a way to search, find, copy (and or) replace a specific file if it is not in the same location on every system?

dir /s "example.dat" ...maybe...
