Cesarandreu
Hello, I’m trying to crack a wep key using Auditor. I’m using a dell laptop, 2.0Ghz Pentium M, 2GB RAM and an Intel Pro/Wireless 2915ABG Wireless card. I downloaded both version of Auditor, the Intel only one boots up, the other dose not. So I opened Kismet and it detected the target AP, it also gave me the correct MAC (of the AP and the clients, I’m testing everything on my own network), SSID and Channel. Ok, so I opend Airodump and I typed: airodump eth0 cap1 *AP’s MAC* And it captures a lot a packets, but not one IV. So I started opening a bunch of webpages on the clients (a laptop connected to the network and a desktop wired to the network), torrents, frostwire and edonkey. I even started to download an iso on my brother’s PSP, I also tried the “ping†command on the clients… and still not ONE IV! Void11 doesn’t seam to work either… Aireplay didn’t give an error but I still don’t get any IVs… Why can I get any IVs? Is my wireless card the problem? The drivers? On a side note, it doesn’t detect anything when I sniff (scan mac addresses) with Cain & Abel! I have to wire the laptop to use the APR function! So after all that, any suggestions, links, tips, help, etc.! Thanks! PS: I did read a few tutorials and searched google before asking! mubix
What card are you using to inject packets? If you are using an auditor cd then you won't be able to inject packets with an intel card.

kYd
Intel cards can't do it, I've got one in my laptop. I brought a WG511 (Version 1, 2 won't work) works great.

Actually they will, if you get the newest 'driver' from the ipw2200 project. I have a Linksys WPC11, a Netgear WPN511, a Proxim 8480-WD, and a Cisco Aironet 350. All work just fine. I've got the Intel 2200BG (I think Harrison had it in one of the eps and it wouldn't work) and can't capture any IV's even with the driver. Maybe I did something wrong. Oh well I'm happy using the WG511 :P

VaKo
Just play around with it, and google the names of programs that seem interesting. Read the documentation, and learn what the various tools do. An easy way to do this is to try ARP poisioning with cain & able and wireshark.

kYd
Intel cards can't do it, I've got one in my laptop.I brought a WG511 (Version 1, 2 won't work) works great. How can version 1 be differentiated from version 2? It doesn't say on the box. V1 has a light grey back and v2 has a darker or black back and says V2 on it They use Different chipsets. I believe V1 uses prism gt and v2 uses marvell. and Marvell = bad.
Iain
Whooppee - I have a V1 card! Come to think of it, it's logical that it doesn't specify V1 on the box or card. How could they know that they were going to progress to V2 at that time?
Cesarandreu
Hey guys, I found a "Netgear WG511T" According to this: http://www.remote-exploit.org/index.php/Auditor_dev_list1 It works with auditor. I still have a few questions before I buy it, 1. Are there any disadvantages/advantages in having a Atheros chipset insted of a Prism chipset? 2. Will I be able to sniff MAC adresses and computers in the network with Cain and Abel with that card? (I cant do it with my intel card) 3. Ummm... any fun stuff I can do if I get the card? =) (other that cracking wep and sniffing networks)
