JamesA
Hi Folks, I've been a long time fan of the show and I've always wondered about your server hosts. I'm capiable of recieving up to 7.5mb/s download rate, however whenever I download hak5 episodes I only recieve around 500-600kb/s download speed. Does your host throttle bandwidth for users? Having to wait 30mins for an episode is quite frustrating when it could be downloaded in 60 seconds flat if your host had the bandwidth. Many thanks & I appreciate replies, James

JamesA
My network connection speed is not 7mb, my literal download speed is 7mb, which should rule out any confusion (I.e. I can download at a rate of 7,000kb/s from standard servers such as rapidshare). I'm located central UK with very good network links. Sparda
You have a 56Mbps connection? Who is providing it?

Sparda
I happen to be on JANET as well and I get 2MB/s when downloading http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.avi/bi...-large.xvid.avi
.PJ
At university? Isn't JANET the education network for schools, colleges and university? Also doesn't Rapidshare have Multiple direct access to Tier 1 networks, giving them huge speeds. I find that rapidshare can max out my connection, where as other stuff doesn't. JamesA
You see what I see. In all fairness I'm using Wireless right now, so I'll re-try the download when I'm on a wired connection and post results.

digip
My speed varies, sometimes faster, sometimes slower, but that also depends on their servers as well and how much traffic they are hosting.
