Recommended Posts

My FON+ arrived today and ita a 2201C running 3.0.2-r1 firmware. I have looked into all the available info for flashing the Fon+ but none seem to work. When I run Ap51 it returns an error " Telnet for RedBoot not enabled ". Can anyone shine some light on this problem.

I had the same firmware version,I tried a lot of different guides before i got it working Chris Oliver’s Blog on unlonk the fon + was the one that eventually worked for me: openwrt-and-jasager-on-the-fon-plus

maybe try this one first but I'd say it probably goes through telnet too: Fon + unlock

I even tried the J-tag way which i don't think i need to do, as i got it working on my friends fon+ by just following Chris Oliver’s Blog

Thanks for the info, I have tried the info in Chris Oliver's Blog but it throws the error I described, I am waiting on parts coming to build the serial cable can you post a link to the method you used so I can give it a spin.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

I got my FON box and have been trying to unlock it with no luck. It is 2201c-uk running 3.0.2 r2. The instructions here http://www.fonboard.nl/wiki/HowTo_Foneraplus_unlocking2/ looks like they might do the trick but I am confused on how to perform the line below:

surf to http://192.168.10.1 or http://169.254.255.1 and change the public SSID in : FON_UNLOCK

My question is: How do I change the public ssid to FON_UNLOCK? When I omit this step, I get the error below:

desktop:/srv/tftp$ sudo ./catch_fonera+

ARPING 192.168.10.1 from 192.168.10.254 eth0

Unicast reply from 192.168.10.1 [00:18:84:40:09:C0] 1.495ms

Sent 95 probes (95 broadcast(s))

Received 1 response(s)

192.168.10.1: inverse host lookup failed: Unknown host

What am I doing wrong here? Any pointer is appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Following instructions here http://www.fonerahacks.com/index.php/Tutor...lash-Guide.html I managed to downgrade the firmware (I think). I think because when I connect to the fon box, it asks for a username/password. I tried as userame (admin, root and empty as well). password tried was root/admin/password and also empty password - and it still is not allowing me in so I can't turn on ssh to complete the hack.

I've never had to do this but that means open your browser and go to the IP address. You'll get the web interface, log in and then change the SSID.

Hello all,

Well I was clearing out some space and found two Fon+ which is good :D but they are running the 3.0.2r1 :(

Now I have been looking through the posting and searching the web and although I have found the how-to over at http://www.fonboard.nl/w/index.php/HowTo_F...plus_unlocking2 it just does not seem to work for me. When I try to run the 2201-unlocking I get the following error:-

Telnet for RedBoot not enabled

Then it drops back to the cmd line, anyone know whats wrong. Furthermore, has anyone got a guide to how they did it.

Thanks in advanced.

You are in the UK so you've got problems. For some reasons Fons of all types shipped to the UK (don't know about Europe but would assume also) have redboot enabled by default but are listening on an IP of 0.0.0.0 which is basically useless. The only way I've found to get into redboot on a UK fon is through a serial cable.

Once you are connected you can either continue flashing through the cable or change the IP address redboot is listening on and go back to the over the network method.

My site seems to be up and I haven't had any monitoring messages to say it is down, hopefully it was just a passing thing.

When you are connecting you need to connect to the LAN/Computer port, the black one on a Fon2, probably the same on a Fon+

As for how to use it, look at my site and look in full walk through section of the Interceptor project. That gets you flashing it. Or, you can get into redboot then just run fconfig, walk through the settings and set the local IP address and server address then carry on with the original install process.
