Unnamed network

Recommended Posts

So i went through all the steps on http://excid3.betaserver.org/projects/open...n-the-fon-plus/ here and i got all the jasager interface up and everything. But my problem is when i looked at access points on my laptop all that shows up is my actuall router and an access point called unnamed network. There are a few things i messed up on the install. I never connected the fon+ to the internet so i guess it didnt get some stuff that it needed. Is there any way to restore all the stuff i put on there like ruby, webif, and haserl and jasager and go back to gargoyle and restart all the installing of those? because i think webif is the only thing that needed access to the internet and i am trying to re run that install command but it freezes up. What can i do?

Sounds like it installed correctly to me. Jasager doesn't broadcast an SSID so that will be the hidden one.

Bring up the interface and turn on karma then try to connect to a random name and see what happens.

You also mentioned that you think you messed up a few parts of the install. You should be able to flash the firmware again using Freifunk EasyFlash. It looks like the first step of the guide you linked.

You may want to wait for digininja to reply though, as he may have better insight than I do.

I had karma on and it only had unnamed network and that was the only connection showing up on the laptop

That sounds right. Make sure karma and wifi are turned on then get your laptop to try to connect to an AP called fred and watch the Jasager interface. If it connects then Jasager is running ok. If not, either try to debug it or start again. It may be something really simple wrong but it also may be faster to just start again.
