Cam H Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Hi everyone, I was just wondering how I would go about making a program that would sent an email through SMTP when a webcam detects motion. I already have the program that takes pictures when motion is detected through a webcam ( Move action 2.0 ). Any suggestions would be great. Code would be awesome. Thank you. Quote
vector Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 i already use such a program. two you want to look into are mobiola webcam 3 and mobiscope. will use any existing ip or webcam and send you an email or sms when motion is detected, let you login from your phone and watch, let you look at all past recordings, you name it. its probably one of the best apps i own. digip Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I think that program has the option to send jpgs to an email, so you can have it take a snapshot and send it to you upon movement probably. Look in the moveaction.conf file for settings. This page has the program plus source code(or so it says). http://members.lycos.co.uk/wuul/moveaction/readme.html 3. Running an external application The program can be configured to launch any other application when movement is detected. Shouldn't be too hard to set up some sort of trigger to send an email. Quote
ADM1NX Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 You might want to try out dogrem http://dorgem.sourceforge.net/ I don't remember if it will e-mail you the image, but it has the capability to send it to an ftp server, or to a site so that you can visit a webpage that has the most recent image or incident Quote
