Sparda
hey i was wondering what you guys use for visual effects in xp/linux? ~silent I don't use any because in XP they are completely pointless. There are some features in the compiz addons that are genuinely useful, most aren't.

vector
object desktop ultimate for vista and xp. theres nothing that i cant do. i can configure anything to do really anything i want and look any way i want. if i want fancy glowing 3d rotating icons i can do that or make my own icons, if i want fancy window effects i can make them do anything i want. its pretty much the gameover app for pimping out your windows environment. compiz dosnt even come close
deleted
I dont use any effects in xp as thats one of the reasons I like it. The closest you get to effects is themes. As for linux, Compiz-Fusion is probably the best for it, not just for niceness, alot of its features I find useful.
psychoaliendog
uxtheme multi-patcher for windows. Compiz-Fusion for linux, but if your using Ubuntu install "compizconfig-settings-manager" and "emerald" for full control.
dr0p
On XP I patch UXTheme so I can use custom .msstyles and I also use Litestep instead of explorer for destkop management. On linux I just use Openbox, Conky, and Tint which are all highly skinnable in themselves.
