Seshan
I have a old box that I want to install XP on so I can just mess with it. But I don't have a XP key, so I would just use the trial. I want to put steady state on it, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if when I restart it will it reset the trial days back to what it was before? PLuNK
I'd imagine so if it reverts changes.

Seshan
No, if you use a key that's already taken on install it will give you a 30 trial.
Sparda
No, if you use a key that's already taken on install it will give you a 30 trial. I thought you didn't have a key? It doesn't give you a trial, it gives you 30 days before it locks you out for not activating, which tbh I find offensive.
Seshan
I don't have a working key, it's being used on another machine. Wouldn't 30 days before it locks you out count as a trial?
deleted
You need an Active and Genuine version of Windows XP/Vista to install it.

VaKo
Just nick a OEM key from the sticker on any pc you find. In most places those keys are legit and have never been used as the stock OS will be replaced by a company image.
