Snowman Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 This is somewhat of an odd question but is there a standard for wireless modes (promisc., monitor, managed, etc.)? I've already done a I don't know why but i like reading up on a concept from an official source like RFC's or whatnot. I've already checked 802.11 wireless standards from IEEE and got nothing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking what they are because I can find that with Google. Thanks. Quote
Sparda Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Well... no. A 'mode' in the sense of a network adapter is only conceptually a mode. Changing 'mode' doesn't do any thing to the adapter, it just 'convinces' the driver to act that way. Quote
