alright. i was going to put this in my ubuntu topic but im so irritated by the complicated installation process and the lack of a worthwhile guide for this crap that i felt it deserved its own little section

i cant get the java plugin to work for firefox. its about that simple. if i could figure out how to get permissions to move files where i please then this would be no issue at all. but everytime i try to move the .so file to the plugins in firefox it says i dont have the permissions. how can i get past that or is there a way(other than command line. ive been screwing with the guide to doing it through command line for well over an hour and barely done anything)to do this?

this is in ubuntu studio

This doesn't deserve its own thread. Since it is on the topic of YOUR ubuntu installation keep it in YOUR ubuntu topic. There are tons of these thread at the ubuntu forums, this is not them. But to help you out here are some tuts that are extremely easy to follow.

Are you using the default fire fox install? I have ran into some problems with distros that try to modify programs to fit their UI and what not.. Try removing firefox and reinstalling it. I had to do it with gimp in LinuxMint.
