  1. Question, I tried logging onto the irc.hak5.org port 6667 server? With no luck tried also 6697 and 7000, no luck. Any advice???
  2. Forgive me for feeling suspicious but I trust no one, especially companies and governments. I'm new to Hak5 and I've read through a lot of the sight and I see a recurring theme. "Hosted on our server's" like it's a good thing. It may be I guess but the untrusting part of my brian (95%) is saying that seems strange. Why would they still want you tied to there server's year's after you obtained there products. Why can't you use these item's without the umbilical cord attached? Or did i miss something that says you don't need there server's to use your products? How do I know that your server's aren't collecting data from our target's for later use or putting clients at risk if your server's get compromised? Go ahead and call me paranoid but I'll be standing when many fall's.
  3. Hello, fellas security people, I would like to know the best way to authenticate offline software. We would like to sell our client our server software, but we want to ensure that this software would not be duplicated or used by non authorized users. We are thinking about usb authentication key, but I want to know how other people think about this problem.
  4. Hello, I'm new to this and I wanted to know how I can create a server and host the files of mimikatz and rx.php of the post of 15 seconds mr robot and upload the file to the server. I would appreciate it PD: https://www.hak5.org/blog/15-second-password-hack-mr-robot-style
  5. I have bought a USB Rubber Ducky. But I could not set up a php server where the usb Rubber Ducky can send the copied passwords from my other computer. Can anyone help me to setup a server?
  6. Is it possible to have a web server on the network side of the Packet Squirrel? It would be nice to create a tool similar to the NetScout NetSprinter that could be used for network diagnostics including LLDP. Could you attach a wireless adapter and have it run an access point as well?
  7. anybody have a preferred Platform/vendor? I am looking at mainly using it for out of network testing and a possibly for a websites. Just wondering if anybody had good reviews of any or one that is preferred
  8. So I have been working on this Server/VPN project for about a month now and I'm supper happy i finally have everything together, setup and boxed up. A quick rundown on what is in there and what i have done. The top black box is clearly just my router and the bottom hosing is an electronic project box i picked up for my local electronics store (Jaycar). The actual internals consist of 3 raspberry pi 3's, a TP 5 port switch which i removed the housing from as the board by itself takes up significantly less room, a 70 watt powered USB hub to power the pi's, 3 micro USB power cables, 3 cat 5e Ethernet cables, and a 2TB external hard drive. The standalone raspberry pi with the 2TB external drive is a self contained, fully functional, and port forwarded for external access, OwnCloud server which i have found myself using on a dally basis. The other 2 that are stack, are VPN related. The bottom pi is my own OpenVPN household server which is port forwarded for external access and it is what i actually connect all of my devices to. The top pi is my NordVPN client that i have also set up as a local internet gateway for my local network. So the config currently works and is setup as follows. My OwnCloud server stands allow with internal pi encryption, https, and encrypted storage. The OpenVPN local server runs all of its encrypted traffic through the NordVPN pi gateway, then through to my router, while still encrypted out to the NordVPN servers and then finally decrypted and out to the internet with a change of location and ip address. Device --> OpenVPN pi Server --> NordVPN pi Client --> Router --> NordVPN Server --> Internet The theory behind this is now i can create and revoke as many client keys as I want and keep track of all of my devices with my own OpenVPN server as well as encrypting my traffic while i am way from home without setting up all of my devices with NordVPN (its all most as simple as drag and drop a ovpn file for most devices using OpenVPN plus OpenVPN can be setup in may different ways and has loads more configuration options), but then also tunnel them out through the internet while maintaining the encryption (instead of decrypt all of my traffic before it leaves my router) as well as changing my geo-location, hiding my traffic from my ISP and also avoiding the 8 device limit that NordVPN sets. Thought? Hope i Have sparked some creativity in everyone.

  11. So I really need help, I though I had everything squared up and ready but I tried to connected externally this afternoon and found a large hole in my plan (a little cranky) . I have everything working great but external access to my OpenVPN server. For more information please read the below link https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topi ... vpn-build/ Long story short I need to access my server from outside the network. The setup is my open VPN server on a raspberry pi running raspbian which is on local ip 10.1.1.101 and I run all of its traffic through another raspberry pi configured as a gateway with the ip of 10.1.1.102 then out to the Internet. Everything is working great internally I just need to know what I have to do to access it external. The default gateway for the gateway pi is 10.1.1.1
  12. If we will connect it with lan cable, where should it go? I mean it has to be connected to a computer or it can be a server too? And where will the shell be uploaded? And will i be able to upload a rat with metasploit? For computer o server? I wont connect the usb port to computer, just a regural power bank as power source.
  13. Hey all, I've got a problem with my python server. The Bash Bunny doesn't want to handle it forever, so it seems to stop handling after about 5 seconds (or shutting it down, can't tell which). The exact same code works locally on my computer (python script that runs a simple SocketServer), and it runs forever (using httpd.serve_forever()), however the BB doesn't want to run it forever. Any ideas why the BB stops handling? EDIT: Just for those that are interested, the browser error says "Site cannot be reached; connection was reset (ERR_CONNECTION_RESET)".
  14. Hi Folks Just wonder if it would be possible to redirect all the host traffic to apache server running on bunny. I have installed apache and can browse it from host. I enabled port forwarding: echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward and added following iptables rules: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 172.16.64.1:80 iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE Please excuse if I am doing something silly. I am a newbie. regards, Mike
  15. So I was testing out the 15 second rubber ducky attack and i'm not to sure how I should be doing the webserver nor what i'm doing wrong. I am very new to hacking and specially webservers, so please don't be too rough on me. So what I have done so far is just dump everything into the apache server, as I expected I didn't get the output file. Just let me know how stupid I am and where I went wrong. This is the webserver right now: http://imgur.com/5NKP0es http://imgur.com/miCNdsr http://imgur.com/Sa1Ish6 http://imgur.com/VWJqkJZ
  16. I'm starting a homelab with what modest means I have available. I've started setting up an i5 Intel NUC with Proxmox so that I can virtualize a few small appliances. I have a really small network of maybe 10 devices on a good day, so I think I can get away with what I want to do. I'm wanting to set it up so that I have a pfSense firewall appliance, and a *nix distro running my DNS DHCP server. Both of these roles are relatively light for a NUC running on an i5 with 16GB of RAM. What I would like to know is if anyone else has travelled this path before me, and if so, how did it turn out?
  17. This simple payload opens Terminal, moves to a directory and then creates a http server that you can go and download those files. You may want to change directory and the server port. In the payload the port is 8000 DELAY 1500 GUI SPACE DELAY 300 STRING Terminal DELAY 200 ENTER DELAY 500 STRING cd (directory to show) ENTER STRING python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000 ENTER GUI M Directory Server.txt
  18. Hello Hak5 Forums, I am new to the forums but am not new to the show, I am a current subscriber and watch almost every video that is uploaded. I had an interesting idea and wanted to see if it was to possible so I signed up here to find out. I'm trying to see if a linux server, with something like LDAP can also handle all users and permissions for multiple clients so when I go from computer to computer I use the same username and credentials and have the same permissions when accessing network drives. The problem that I am seeing is that for the windows side it would require Windows Server, and that is something I would rather not have to deal with. Eventually if it is possible to do this, I would like to deploy this on a central virtualization server and have all my computer both windows and linux already configured with my credentials and my network shares mapped and ready to use. Thanks in Advance, Levi
  19. (please notice that this is being conducted as a security evaluation in my own company, nothing in here can get me in legal trouble since I own the network and all the computers connected to it) Hi, I need to create a relay server for my pineapple to ssh to when I deploy it in position. The thing is, I need it to be completely untreaceable back to me, otherwise my IT guys would find it too easily. They know they're going to be tested, they agreed to it and to not knowing when this is going to happen. My question is, how would you guys go about: buying the hosting/remote server/vps so that it cannot be connected back to you? what kind of server would you use for a relay server? what security measures would you take so your anonimity is preserved? Thanks a lot!
  20. Could someone please explain this? I don't get why the names of the networks will all show up but not the MAC addresses. And why can't I scroll through kismet individually as opposed to the whole linux command line.
  21. What benefits would I see if I upgraded my server hardware? I took an old windows pc out of the office's recycle bin. The hardware was OLD! Dell Optix GX 260 Intel® Pentium® 4 Level 1 (L1) cache 8 KB 512 MB RAM ~100 GB PSATA HDD I installed Ubuntu Server 12.x (32bit) It's been workin great for 1 year+ I host a corporate wiki on it, a CRM software. I am adding a ticketing program. It runs so great, I don't mess with it too much. Does this old hardware that idles mostly 24/7 consume lots of power? Would switching to 64-bit hardware make more software available? The $600 server is a nice price. But I could spend that on desktop hardware upgrades. New SSD. Videocard. etc. Hak5 keep inspiring. The linux server build was one the biggest eye-openers I've ever had. The possibilities are endless.
  22. i want to setup jitsi can anyone help me setup process ..i am using cloud server I followed these 3 steps https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md after this i am now getting in that ip address Welcome to nginx!daren said about portforwarding ..i dont know how to complete rest of the process?? ..plz someone help me in setting up my hangouts in my server
  23. I am looking to build a freenas server to replace my windows home server. I am looking for some feedback as to what to build. I want it to do everything that my windows home server does. It will mainly be used for data storage and streaming videos and pictures to other devices. I know it should have ECC memory but pcpartpicker does not have any ECC memory I was thinking about putting in 32 GBs of memory in it which would max out the board. Here is what I am looking at from pcpartpicker. Thoughts and suggestions would be nice. Fell free to edit the list just let me know why you edited it if you do. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Mr_Cool59/saved/VMGwrH
  24. Hey guys. I recently Setup a media server running Media Browser and absolutely love it! I have been looking for a solution such as this since like 2009. My setup is as follows... Modem/Gateway -> WRT Series router running dd-wrt with VPN support. Users connect to the PPTP VPN via dd-wrt and then access the media server on the network and even on 3G it works pretty well. I am impressed! How ever from a security stand point I am curious what you guys think, what would you do differently? I want them to securely access the media server without any other local lan access and it would be nice to give them the ability to create their own user accounts. I had a setup in 2009 using Adito and am thinking of tinkering with that again. Active directory also is an option I would like, but I'm still new to Media Browser.
  25. Hi, i am very new to server / NAS -segment and all this stuff. But i want to have my own home server for data backup, cloud storage for about 10 users. The server will be located inside a homenetwork which firewall i don´t have access to and with dynamic IP - so i guess i have to use the standard-ports to reach the server from outside? My main question is: Would you recommend a hp-proliant microserver over a custom-build (i like to build my own pcs :-) - so building the thing wouldn´t be a problem) - but the hp micorserver seems to come for a very good prize. I know that i would sacrifice a little bit of upgradability with that. How is it with internet-security? Does HP use any suspicious hard-or software which can specified as spyware? And what OS/Software would you recommend? I tend to use FreeNAS or Linux-Server and Seafile for cloud-function. Any recommendations on these things? Thanks for all help in advance.
