  1. I'm just looking to get a good thread going. Time for the ultimate question!! Which do you think is better, Kali or Parrot? I used Kali myself when I first started out. But I found it to be RAM hungry and kind of clunky. But when I found ParrotSec I was instantly in love. I love the wider selection of tools and the beautiful GUI. Having TOR and encryption tools built in doesn't hurt either 🙂 You guys comment what you think!!!
  2. hello all, I have been trying for awhile and have read through quite a few forums trying to prevent my aireplay-ng --deauth command from channel hopping. I have set the channel in a few different ways that i have seen in other forums and this seemed to be the most popular: sudo ifconfig wlan* down sudo iwconfig wlan* mode monitor channel * sudo ifconfig wlan* up but also didnt work for me. Is there another way to prevent this? I am using ALFA AWUS036ACH AC1100 2.4/5ghz wifi adapter and setting it to 5ghz. I have another ALFA that is 2.4ghz only and these commands work perfectly fine. This dual band adapter seems to be having issues with deuathenticating and also capturing handshake even on 2.4ghz channel.
  3. Hi All, I know this has probably been mentioned on the internet countless times, but I can't seem to get my AWUS036NEH adapter working with Kali Rolling. I've been at this for days and just can't get my head around it. I'm running Linux kali 4.9.0-kali4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.30-1kali1 (2017-06-06) x86_64 GNU/Linux. I've trawled through forums here and other places and tried various set ups to get this working with no luck, so hopefully someone here can help me out. Issue: Getting AWUS036NEH adapter to work with Kali Rolling. I can get the device on the system, but I am unable to scan APS (airodump wlan0mon). Although, after trying numerous times to get the adapter working, and keep a log of each step, airodump did work randomly once. (The steps I did will be displayed below) Setup: Kali is running on Virtualbox VM 5.1.24 Tested the following: Plugged in adapter, selected the USB device to be recognized by Virtual BOX and ran lsusb and can see the device. Please see below for what I did and got it working, but does not work anymore when I try again. This tells me, that the adapter intermittently works, but am I not understanding or missing something to get it working consistently? I have each time ran airmon-ng check kill, on each attempt to get it working. (I've set up the adapter on my MAC OS and it works perfectly fine) But as mentioned, I can't get it to work anymore, can anyone put me in the right direction or help me out? Thanks
  4. Hi Guys, Just found out (I am a bit slow) that Kali NetHunter is now available in the Kali App Store, so it must be in the Android store as well. It apparently works on all android platforms from KitKat (v4.4) to Pie (v9.0)! I find this truly amazing (if it works), and wanted to know if anyone else has tried this, and what the verdict is? Cheers 😎 PS. Apparently your Android device must be rooted? PPS. Here is the link: https://www.kali.org/news/kali-nethunter-app-store/
  5. Does anyone know how to use the "scp device.config root@172.16.84.1:/etc/" command using Windows 10?

  8. I have a problem with pyrit detecting my nvidia gpu on my kali linux machine. I have the latest kali linux (as of 28/08/2019) and i successfuly installed nvidia drivers without any errors. This is the guide i used: https://hackersterminal.com/how-to-install-nvidia-driver-on-kali-linux/ and it work - no errors at all. Now when i want to use my gpu in pyrit it is not detected at all. I even changed the config file for pyrit to allow cuda when i enter in a terminal: python -c 'from cpyrit import _cpyrit_cuda' i get the following error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: cannot import name _cpyrit_cuda please help, i have no idea how to fix this and after days on searching the internet i was unable to find anything
  9. Hi all, I'm quite new to wireless sniffing. I just received a wireless adapter (Atheros AR9271 2.4 Ghz USB WiFi Wireless Adapter) and want to try man-in-the-middle type attacks at home, using kali Linux in VirtualBox on my Mac. I've set the USB ports to be accessible from the VM, and then used the adapter to connect to my wifi from the kali VM. I've set packet forwarding using echo 1 >> /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward. Then, I'm launching the two arpspoof commands from two terminal windows: "arpspoof -i wlan0 -t 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.24" and "arpspoof -i wlan0 -t 192.168.1.24 192.168.1.1", knowing that these are respectively my router's and my phone's local IPs. The commands seem to run properly (I'm having an output that look similar to the ones on any tutorial on arpspoofing on both terminals). But when trying to navigate the web from my phone, some pages load (Facebook, Google), but most don't (BBC or Amazon for instance). In any case, nothing appears when I trying to use "urlsnarf -i wlan0" on a new terminal, nothing appears apart from: "urlsnarf: listening on wlan0 [tcp port 80 or port 8080 or port 3128] ". I'm using the latest version from Kali Linux (2019_3) and MacOS (Catalina). Would anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong? Could this be a hardware issue? Thank you very much for any help! Best, Paul
  10. its been a while since i have messed around, but the time has come that i document what im doing... wash reaver wps pin attacks deauth and capture handshakes hashcat gpu cracking wpa word list's 'couch potato 123' comcast word generator type of password attacks that are router specific. wifi antennas 2.4 ghz and 5.8ghz it looks like nonsense but ill do some automation in my favorite language (ruby) ill do some multi threaded task like clock work to automate almost the hole process. ill start with small simple snippets. if people want to make comments on techniques that have worked for them that are related to wifi cracking/reaver/gpu-cracking. please for example post your reaver commands. if any one has seen mdk3 attacks work to reset routers, make comments on this as well.

  12. Hi, I am having a very unusual problem with my Kali Linux install on my laptop. Everything works fine except for the audio recently, it has started to make loud crackling noises and such... Like the mic and speakers are too high or interfering with each other. But the problem persists even when I mute everything. This is a recent problem that started within the last week and I have no idea how to fix and I am reluctant to do another install because I tried a kali linux live USB and seemed to have the same problem. I narrowed this down to kali linux because I tried a live USB if Linux nate and appeared to have no issues at the time. Hope someone can help
  13. Hello guys, First of all I want to say hi as I'm new to forum and WP. I also want to mention that I looked for the help in other topics but unfortunately was unable to overcome my issue. I have a problem with connection sharing (I have access to internet, however nano does not - impossible to load bulletins). I used the script and it worked the first time. After I left nano scanning for a few minutes the connection was gone. Client mode works fine. Using the script again did not help. Adding new default routes to Kali did not help. Factory rested did't as well. I don't know how to resolve this... My system info: Kali Rolling edition (not vm) nano: v 2.5.2 script: wp6.sh route on kali outputs: Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface default _gateway 0.0.0.0 UG 600 0 0 wlan0 10.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 600 0 0 wlan0 172.16.42.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 100 . 0 0 wlan0 ip route: default via 10.0.0.1 dev wlan0 proto dhcp metric 600 10.0.0.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 10.0.0.11 metric 600 172.16.42.0/24 dev eth1 proto kernel scope link src 172.16.42.109 metric 100 Wp6.sh configuration: Saved Settings: Share Internet connection from wlan0 to WiFi Pineapple at eth1 through default gateway 10.0.0.1 (nano is indeed on eth1) ifconfig on eth1: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 172.16.42.109 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 172.16.42.255 (...) also from management page: Networking tab > route Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface default 172.16.42.42 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 br-lan 172.16.42.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 br-lan "upadte route" shows in grey: 172.16.42.42 Please help me deal with this... and sorry if something's stupid happening, I'm still a learner. let me know if more data is needed. 14. Recently I got a new Alienware M17 which I have really enjoyed.😊 Currently I just have Windows 10 Home but I want to do a dual boot with Kali Linux. I have been having trouble setting this up lately. I will say what I did step by step and see if anyone knows what to do. First I created a disk partition I intend on using for kali than I I downloaded a Kali Linux iso file from their downloads page. After the kali iso had finished downloading I went and downloaded the Universal USB Installer. I plugged in my USB and began burning the kali iso to the USB. After I was finished with that I booted my computer from the USB and was greeted with the installation page for Kali Linux. I chose the graphic installer option and chose my language and region. Then when it got to the part when it was trying to mount the USB it said it was unable to do so. I had to abort the installation afterwards. I was thinking it may be a problem with my USB as I had already burned another iso (parrotsec OS) onto it and tried to burn the kali onto the USB regardless. Anyways I want to see if any of you have any advice for what I should do in order to successfully dual boot my laptop.
  15. Im looking for some ideas on how to work on and practice using kali linux for the purpose of pen-testing and using all the various functions kali comes with. Things to bare in mind: I am fairly new to this, I have more then one computer, Im looking to aggressively expand my knowledge in this area, and of course i wanna be able to do this w/o breaking or damaging anything. Thoughts and suggestions, please and thank you!
  16. Kali linux has released a free downloadable pdf and a paperback book for around $20. I was wondering if anyone has used this and if it would be worth while.
  17. Has anyone gotten a Samsung Chromebook 3, with crouton installing Kali or Ubuntu, to recognize an external wifi adapter? I keep doing searches and come up with posts from 2014 and 2015 saying that the Chromebook is not capable of recognizing external wifi adapters. Specifically I have an Alfa AWUS036NHA i'd like to use. If i can't resolve this by Nov 1 (2018) i'm just going to buy a "traditional" Win10 PC with a non-eMMC spinning 500GB drive. I've had no problem making those dual-boot. There is so much negative information about (1) making machines with eMMC (SSHD) dual boot or booting up off USB, and (2) Chromebooks not recognizing external wifi adapters. Maybe i need to wait 2-3 yrs for Chromebooks to become more versatile? ... Thanks for comments.
  18. following install steps from https://wifipineapple.com/nano (url from the instruction booklet) step 3 the link times out. Has the link changed?
  19. Hi everyone, Long time lurker (asides from software programmer, web programmer and whenever I've some time, avid reader). I just re-installed after a long time Kali into my XPS15, and now I get a black screen after login, no matter what X I choose, Gnome, Classic or X11 Default. Any ideas on what may be happening or how to fix it (I know it most probably is the drivers, but how to verify it?) Thanks a lot
  20. Hey guys, my problem is that I have just installed the Kali Linux VMware Image. I changed my pass and then I did an update (apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade). 21. Recently installed Kali to my RPi3, and also to a USB drive for use on my Ubuntu16/Win10 laptop. Today I tried to make the Kali USB drive 'persistent,' and I thought maybe some people even more newbie than me might be interested in hearing what i had to do to make it work. Following the instructions blindly doesn't always work: (1) Creating the USB drive, no problem: https://docs.kali.org/downloading/kali-linux-live-usb-install However i had to do it using Win32 Disk Imager, because when i used the 'dd' method (from Ubuntu16 in a VirtualBox) it ran all night and still hadn't finished. So, Win32 imager. (2) Then on to make the Kali installation have 'persistence' so it would save settings and be able to save downloaded applications and scripts: https://docs.kali.org/downloading/kali-linux-live-usb-persistence ... which is where i began to have some problems. Under Step 1. i wasn't getting the prescribed sdb1 and sdb2. I had 3 sdb drives already. So i went back and repeated the Win32 Disk Imager process, and then doing fdisk -l on the usb drive, in a Ubuntu16 machine, showed me sdb1 and sdb2. ... Step 2. went well, in my case it was kali-linux-2018.1-i386.iso and i executed each line in Step 2 separately, waiting for each process to finish. ... Step 3. again execute each line separately and wait for each one to finish before going on to the next. ... Step 4. is where i was baffled; i wasn't getting persistence on re-boot. It turns out the directory wasn't being created, nor was the persistence.conf file. I had to go to /mnt, create the directory, cd to it, create persistence.conf and enter the ' / union ' and save it. Then unmount. I think that is all i had to do. Create a dummy text file in my home directory, save it, re-boot into Kali Persistent mode, and voila i had persistence. ... To experienced users, this all must seem silly, but six months ago i would have been totally baffled by the instructions "not working." Even newer newbies may find this hair-pulling today useful. ... THEN: (3) Why wouldn't my command-line rtl-sdr WBFM script work? rtl_fm -f 93.3e6 -M wbfm -s 200000 -r 48k - | aplay -r 48000 -f S16_LE First, of course, sudo apt-get rtl-sdr. But my one-liner wouldn't put out because my Kali didn't have aplay. So: sudo apt-get install alsa-utils, then the script would run. Almost. This version of aplay didn't like ' -r 48k ' so i had to change that to ' -r 48000 '. Then i got my FM station. Audio quality poor, so i will have to tweak that script on Kali. On Ubuntu16 i think it sounded just fine. So that was my day today. NEXT: installing rfcat on my Pentoo USB stick. I haven't a clue, yet. I did figure out that 'sudo apt-get install' gets replaced by 'sudo emerge --ask' but it doesn't find rfcat anywhere out there. I'm probably doing something wrong? ... Cheers.
  22. i am setting up a computer dedicated as a learning resource and tool. People get caught out by stating without security from the beginning. There are also setting in tor that secure you even further but im not sure on what that is, i remember hearing about it in a defcon video. But basically this post is just asking how i can keep myself safe on the dark web and learning and using these resources to work my way into becoming an intelligence worker for my county. All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
  23. I am trying to set up my Pineapple on Kali Linux by running the wp6.sh v6.5 script and after a long time trying I finally figured that the default gateway should be set to 192.168.0.1 and I no longer got error messages when I hit C to connect. But imagine my surprise when I when to my Pineapple and I got the "Error connecting to WiFiPineapple.com. Please check your connection."
