  1. Hi, let me tell you that I am new when it comes to WIFI Pineapples. This month i started Uni and this is my first year of Cyber Security, so we were told that we would play around with Kali and many other softwares, the thing is that I have use Kali before and I loved how the AirCrack ng works and the other in-build softwares So I used these softwares for pentesting on my own home network, but now I am limited, I am living in a student accomodation and I cannot use kali because it would become illegal to use it in an open network like the uni one so i was thinking on creating a home network only for me, so using only a router and just making it be conected to my devices and I would be able to do my pentesting projects for uni, but I was thinking whether to get a Wifi Pineapple to creating this small home network (if its possible), and then for one of my final projects use the Wifi Pineapple for what it is supposed to be used for, and make the project about a Wifi Pineapple and man-in-the-middle pentesting. You see, this is only a plan that i thought it could work, because I wanted to only spend 99.99$ and do all of that, and not to spend 140$ (99 for the pineapple and 40 for a home router) My question is if i can use the Wifi Pineapple to create a little wifi network so I can test my projects for Uni. So, for example, having a device (device A) connected to the Wifi Pineapple and having my device (device B with kali) trying to access data by penetrating on device A. I dont need a tutorial, as far as I know if its possible to do what I want and i know I have your approval of working I would totally be happy, and be able to purchase the Wifi Pineapple Nano. Thanks for your time, I hope I explained myself nicely, this is not my first language after all. Spanish Dude living in England.
  2. Howdy All, I am very new to the concept of network testing. Currently, I run my Intranet (2 desktops, a laptop, and a handful of smartphones) behind a standard router/modem, and utilizing firewalls and anti-virus/malware tools. But I cannot shake the thought that I might be dropping the ball somewhere... 1. Is there something I can do to test and see if I have any vulnerabilities I can shore-up? 2. Are there ways I can check and see if others are attempting to gain access to my home network from the outside? Thanks ahead o' time guys! Keep up the good work! 3. Hi, i have been watching Hak5 for a couple of months now and filtering through all the great videos. Fantastic education! Now, i have a small home network of 1 main desktop pc, one medium dektop pc, various laptops on wifi, 2 smart phones, 2 printers. I also have many pc's come through my house as i repair them etc. My question is, what is the best way to screw down security for my setup. I also run a off the shelf wireless modem\router for my ADSL2. I am going to set up my own cloud system, my own router, a VPN as shown on the Hak5 episodes and that's about it for now. Can you guys suggest anything else i sould install\set up, be it software and or hardware to make my system tighter than a constipated fishes ring? Naa, not that much, but at least good enough to keep most unwanted peoples and thingies out. I also run virtual box on my main machine with 2 or 3 versions of windows and 3-4 versions of linux mainly for learning purposes. the main machine runs win7 x64. all computers run AVG free\Malwarebytes and i run ccleaner every so often. With all the foreign computers i get through this place in a year i am amazed that i am not cleaning out infections from my computers all the time but rarely have to at all unless i do something i KNOW will compromise my system, but then i just get rid of it anyway. I have very little money, a few computer parts, a couple spare laptops and a netbook. Any suggestions would be greatfully accepted. Thank You. Gary Smith Land Down Under....
