  1. What can be other use of Pineapple in daily life (w/ Pineapple firmware!), not just for pen testing. My initial setup also has Alfa awus036nha. Can it be used as Wifi signal booster; connects to wifi with awus036nha and you can connect to internet through AP121U LAN; other (name them). I presume, if you don't have stock firmware, which came with AP121U then you are stuck with Pineapple for life?
  2. i have a 50 dollar and want to spend it on a good receiver i know that i should prefere atheros chipset but the nha don't have good support on windows 10
  3. http://i.imgur.com/xQuF9Fq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/RAtlIVl.jpg awus036nha v5 anker 15000 mah raspberry pi b+ 2 amp usb hub im at about 135$ so far (money i have made with tips during work hours) i had the pi plugged into 1amp and usb-hub+alfa-card plugged into 2 amp power supply and seems to run just fine... (fails other way around, alfa card needs 2 amps or disconnect/reconnect happens) the video above, i add this to my /etc/rc.local --> ./mana/run-mana/start-noupstream.sh with eth0 as the out interface, i have seen this thing go for 12 hours with out any dmesg errors... (./start-nat-simple.sh) i plan to get a nother alfa card for a good out interface... its ugly, at the moment, i plan to clean it up...
  4. Hi, I got the ALFA AWUS036NHA a week ago and I keep running into the problem that the usb keeps deinitializing. Sometimes it stays up but for most of the time I have to keep plugging it in or out just to see if it will work. I have some DMESG here: [ 754.395088] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 34 using xhci_hcd [ 759.598644] usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=0cf3, idProduct=9271 [ 759.598653] usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=16, Product=32, SerialNumber=48 [ 759.598658] usb 1-3: Product: UB91C [ 759.598661] usb 1-3: Manufacturer: ATHEROS [ 759.598665] usb 1-3: SerialNumber: 12345 [ 759.599272] usb 1-3: ath9k_htc: Firmware htc_9271.fw requested [ 759.599653] usb 1-3: firmware: direct-loading firmware htc_9271.fw [ 759.881726] usb 1-3: ath9k_htc: Transferred FW: htc_9271.fw, size: 51272 [ 760.119294] ath9k_htc 1-3:1.0: ath9k_htc: HTC initialized with 33 credits [ 760.386903] ath9k_htc 1-3:1.0: ath9k_htc: FW Version: 1.3 [ 760.386911] ath: EEPROM regdomain: 0x833a [ 760.386913] ath: EEPROM indicates we should expect a country code [ 760.386917] ath: doing EEPROM country->regdmn map search [ 760.386920] ath: country maps to regdmn code: 0x37 [ 760.386923] ath: Country alpha2 being used: GB [ 760.386925] ath: Regpair used: 0x37 [ 760.391745] ieee80211 phy22: Atheros AR9271 Rev:1 [ 760.391920] cfg80211: Calling CRDA for country: GB [ 760.401584] cfg80211: Current regulatory domain intersected: [ 760.401594] cfg80211: DFS Master region: unset [ 760.401598] cfg80211: (start_freq - end_freq @ bandwidth), (max_antenna_gain, max_eirp) [ 760.401604] cfg80211: (2402000 KHz - 2472000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 760.401609] cfg80211: (5170000 KHz - 5250000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (N/A, 1700 mBm) [ 760.401614] cfg80211: (5250000 KHz - 5330000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 760.401619] cfg80211: (5490000 KHz - 5710000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (N/A, 2400 mBm) [ 760.709534] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan1: link is not ready [ 761.054991] usb 1-3: USB disconnect, device number 34 [ 761.366396] usb 1-3: ath9k_htc: USB layer deinitialized [ 761.603495] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 35 using xhci_hcd [ 776.724824] usb 1-3: device descriptor read/64, error -110 [ 776.828820] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: Setup ERROR: setup context command for slot 5.   5. Hello everyone, I've been looking for the past couple of hours for the best wireless dongle to buy, which I found out that is the : alfa awus036nha. But then a second before purchasing I was thinking to myself, could be that it's not compatible with my mac ?. So the question is, is it compatible with my Mac OS 10.9.4 version ? From a first look it seems that it won't be compatible and that the one that is recommended to buy is awus036nh. What would you suggest me to get ?
  6. Hi guys, Today I finaly got my Alfa AWUS036NHA, but I have a problem with it. When I connect it to any computer or any OS the LED starts blinking and it keeps connecting and disconnecting from the host computer. I tried using other USB cables, so this won't be the problem. Any kind of help will be nice. Vinnii
  7. Hi, i'd like to give the pineapple a go and have been reading and watching quite a lot of hak5 / openwrt stuff but there are still a few things i can't get my head around. I almost don't have any wifi hardware at hand, so i'm gonna have to buy everything and I wouldn't want to get things wrong. I'm a total wifi noob, never used it (on purpose), but i'm quite fluent in linux so if the answer is in the range of “yes but you'll have to do that manually” it should be fine. I also do my fare share of hardware hacking. My setup will also have to deal with portability. 1- I understand something quite important is having an atheros chipset (any?) but i don't quite get why some setups show the AWUS036NHA (ar9271) added to an ap121u (ar9331).. Am I right to assume that it's only a matter of signal range (20dbm vs 30dbm for the NHA) or are there some protocol features only available on the NHA ar9271 chipset ? In other words can I do everything, pentesting wise, without an additional NHA ? 2- I was going for a tplink TL-MR3020 which is easily found in my area but the smaller 4mib flash size makes it necessary to use a usb stick to install the pineapple software so I decided to try and get the alfa ap121u. Are there any hidden goodies on the tplink that would make it more valuable, power consumption and so on.. 2b- should I consider other hardwares with atheros / 8Mib flash ? 3- One thing I really don't get with the alfa hardware is their rs232 flash header (for a clean flash / unbrick). Is it a proprietary protocol, making it mandatory to buy that quite expensive peace of junk.. sorry, interface ? Or can you manage your way around that with a regular pc serial port ? And maybe with some minor hardware setup ? 4- one last thing I know nothing about is antennas. If I don't get the additional nha device, is it still relevant to plug a better 9dbi antenna on the ap121u ? The tplink does not have an external antenna and that was also a hardware hack I was going to do, so the same question applies. I'm pretty sure some of those questions are quite basic and have been asked before, sorry about that, but I couldn't really figure out the AWUS036NHA question by looking at the specifications. thx
  8. Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I just bought the awus036nha and i'm using a Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion but I can't find the drivers on the webpage for this operating system. Anyone has a clue how to install it?? Thanks!
  9. Heya, looking for easy-to-follow tutorial to setup USB wifi on VirtualBox/BackTrack 5 R3. I have AWUS036NHA, W7 host/Backtrack 5 R3 guest and VirtualBox 4.1.10
  10. I failed to install USB adapter to Backtrack, so I need professional help. I have BackTrack 5 R3 with VMware. I somehow installed driver for Atheros AE9271 but still when I type "iwconfig" I see only "eth0" and "lo". I'm using Alfa AWUS036NHA with Realtek AR9271 chipset.
  11. Hi all, i have a few questions relating to karma/jaseger. The first is what is the actual name, karma or jasager lol is it both? #iamanoob. Secondly i was trying to see if i could get my ALFA awus036h to work with karma as i am in Bolivia :) and it can output 1w, but after further reading i have came the the conclusion that karma/jasager will only worth with atheros chipsets and prisim chipsets? so as the awus036h has a realtek chipset does this mean that karma/jasager will not work with it, period? So this bring's me on to my other question, can any of the 2w (AWUS036NHA & AWUS036NH) cards be used with karma, i have seen some threads here and there on the forums with limited success but it looks complicated (for me anyway) to implement, i also read that soon it would be implemented into the next fw release (meaning the ability to choose which device karma uses). Has it been implemented yet? The reason i want to know all this is i just dont want to rush out and but the hardware without knowing for sure! And finally my next question is the internal atheros wifi in the mkiv, can the tv power be modified like the alfa cards? seen a thread about it but can't find it now. Is there a max power output? Thank's For reading. - Anton
  12. 13. There is an open ticket for a USB pass-through for the AWUS036NHA on Oracle's site. https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/9511?cversion=0&cnum_hist=2 So if you are like Digininja and I, trying to pass through your AWUS036NHA to your linux guest, this is why it's not working.
