  2. Is it possible to apply a filter to airodump-ng to show AP's with a similar ESSID. e.g ACME1234, ACME5678 ? obviously it can be done with BSSID's by applying a mask, but I can't find any examples that show it being applied to the ESSID. can someone please advise? Thank you.
  3. Hey techies, I'm a newbie who's fascinated by Kali. My friend and I were trying to pentest his network when we got these errors: "bash: /usr/sbin/airodump-ng: input/output error" And when I tried to open iceweasel I got yet another error: "Failed to execute child process "iceweasel" (input/output error)"' What is the problem and how do I rectify it? Please remember that I'm a tyro and am just getting my feet wet in this fascinating world of White-Hat-Hacking. So please lay it down nice and slow - in English! Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks. I'm booting Kali through a USB. The version is, kali-linux-1.0.8-i386. My system specs are: System Name: NA [system Summary] Item Value OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 Other OS Description Not Available OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name NA System Manufacturer LENOVO System Model 2767W3A System Type X86-based PC Processor IntelĀ® Core2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53GHz, 2534 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s) BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 7UET94WW (3.24 ), 17/10/2012 SMBIOS Version 2.4 Windows Directory C:\Windows System Directory C:\Windows\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1 Locale United Kingdom Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7601.17514" User Name NA Time Zone India Standard Time Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB Total Physical Memory 1.90 GB Available Physical Memory 889 MB Total Virtual Memory 3.80 GB Available Virtual Memory 2.53 GB Page File Space 1.90 GB Page File C:\pagefile.sys PS: That poser: "What fruit is the wireless penetration testing router?" I had to REALLY google to find the answer. That's really a good one.
  4. Hi I'm making a research about the digital footprint we leave without noticing we are doing it (cookies, retargeting pixels, browser footprint, mac address scanning, keystroke patterns, etc...) I'm using airodump to capture and analyze the information coming from the clients, in specific the probes broadcasted. But I have noticed that not all the phones broadcast probes of previously known networks or probes looking for an specific SSID. For example, iOS devices just broadcast one ssid probe (the last one they have been connected), some android devices broadcast the last 10 and depending of the brand and android version some just broadcast 2 to none. My guessing is the devices are making a passive scan, but there's any way I can force the devices to broadcast the probes for all the networks they know?
  5. Hello, When I run airodump-ng from a SSH terminal it uses maybe an average of 3-5% CPU. However when I try to run it in the background (by using '&' after the command) from either a script or a SSH terminal it uses nearly 100% CPU. Does anyone have any ideas why running it in the background uses all the CPU? I have experimented with redirecting the output to /dev/null and that did not help. In short: airodump-ng [options] = 5% CPU usage airodump-ng [options] % = 95% + CPU usage Thank you!
  6. I am trying to get Airodump-ng to keep every AP (WIFi) found. By default airodump-ng removes found BSSID if it doesn't get anymore beacons frame from the AP after 120 sec. I know about the "--berlin" option to set the amount of sec airodump-ng will keep found BSSIDs, but i want it to keep it forever (or until i restart airodump-ng). I have tried to export the scan to a log with " >> scandump.txt", but the log come up blank. Any help would be great, btw this is on a pineapple mkv. thx,
