2. Hey there! I am getting started within the coding/cybersecurity/ceh/pentesting world. I have a friend who's very savvy at all things tech, and I know they prize their Hak5 gear because they take it with them literally everywhere, so I figured getting to know this community might be a good place to start and get some direction with the best place to begin learning things whether that's YT, opensource projects, just working toward certs, etc. Thanks in advance for any and all help! a2d
3. Hello everyone, I have just discovered this amazing community. I am wondering if you guys could help provide me with beneficial programming tips or suggestions. I love to code and I am wondering if there are important skills I should obtain or learn about. It would be amazing to see if you guys have any programming tutorials/books/etc... that can be helpful to learn from. I am fairly decent at coding. My older project I worked on was an app on the IOS App Store (took me about 8 months to create), but I now want to learn about creating good-quality code and being able to underst
4. As the title says I'm tinkering with Mac Addresses. I'm writing a simple python script that just takes in a Mac Address as a string and tries to figure out as much information about the device given nothing but that address (not even network access). However, I'm not sure what all that Mac can tell me or how to determine it. I know Mac Addresses can be spoofed. I know that the first 3 octets usually represent the OUI (Organizational Unique Identifier) but beyond that what can a Mac Address tell me? What other useful information can I extract? (any details or resources about how wo
5. I'm interested in the ability to make hardware and apply the desired software to it, whether it be home code or open-source. Does any one have resources that they themselves have used to obtain this skill? I will be posting my progress in this thread even if there are no replies.
6. Hi, I'm fairly sure most people who get involved in security, pen testing etc, will know things about networks, linux, and a handful of languages and understanding of exploits depending on what they're doing. A part from things like becoming a better programmer or learning more about networks what are some things you would assume security experts to know? I'm looking for things to do with security but mainly things that don't necessarily come under security like linux kernel development or AI but could be incredibly beneficial to someone in security. Thanks!
7. Picture: Picture with wrong AM waves: Hello guys, I recieved and recorded an ASK_OOK signal from an auto remote key. But when I opened the wav file there wasn't the right wave forms( like in hak5 youtube show (reply attacks with yardstick one)). Please look at the pic. It would be very nice if someone can help me. Thanx JoJo
8. I was just uploading files to drive and I was a little annoyed that my entire upload stopped to ask if I wanted to overwrite a duplicate file. The fact that firefox knows it's a duplicate file makes this a trivial point in programming. Since it knows the file is duplicate it should know what files are already on the server. If the file you are uploading is duplicate it should wait until the end to ask what you want to do with the file and upload the unique files first that way the entire download isn't stalled until you manually click the dialogue box asking if you want to overwrite the fil

11. Hello there! Which is the best programming language to start with? I have already learned a bit of C and JAVA. May I know the best language to start with? I want to learn to make wireless hacking tools for linux with my own coding knowledge, kindly help! Thanks!
12. Hello Everyone!!! I'm a student who loves hardware. I work with it a lot and I'm very good at making my custom devices. I have just ordered the PCBs for my latest design. It is the first prototype of a computer meant only for math. This board isn't very powerful and is a little more than a square inch, but I'm hoping in the future it will be very capable. On the square inch there are four low level processors. I have three of them coming and they should work well. I need someone to help me as I want to use these devices to crack mathematical passwords and encrypted data and I have litt
13. Hello... I saw that there is a 'Composite Duck 4x CAPS Trigger' for the Ducky. I have downloaded and compiled some of the Source Code but I didn't see any code for the x4 Caps trigger. I know midnitesnake is working with this, but I wondered if it was possible to get a copy of the source code for the x4 Caps Normally I would experiment with while loops and if statements, but I really don't want to damage the Ducky. It's not that I'm lazy, I just don't want to damage my little Ducky. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
14. Firstly, may I just say this took ages for me to build. I have been extremely busy of late, and I have finally compiled a really useful network and system information gathering tool. PLEASE NOTE: I am freely releasing this code. Please keep all copyrights, as this took me ages, and I don't want people claiming they did all the work just with a simple "copy and paste" being the truth. Some of the VBScript I have had real troubles with. The final thing I want to implement over time is some sort of get BIOS information, but aside from that the script should do. The USB Rubber Ducky could use t
15. Hey all! So I finally got my first Pebble (very proud owner), and I'm actually in the process of developing an app idea I have for it: Spot the ISS from your pebble! I've already conquered the "Hello World" construction (Barely), but I want to collaborate with you all on something: What I really need to accomplish in this app is GPS positioning to display Longitude & Latitude VS your current location (based by the connection of your phone). However, I'm VERY rusty on my C. I found this GitHub of (apparently) a protocol the Pebble likes, is anyone familiar with C able to tell if this
16. I wrote a program today that will read a physical drive directly. I read the first 50,000 bytes into a txt file, starting at sector zero. I see some text, but also a lot of graphics characters and symbols. I have googled what this could be, but haven't really found anything. I know its some sort of encoding of my data, but I'm not sure. My hopes are that its something that can be made sense of. I have seen some of this from assembly, however I'm still not sure what I'm looking at. I will post some of the out put below. So the question is, what is it. If someone could give me some insight or a
17. First of all I'm working with a backtrack 5 VM through parallels. Been working on this for 14 hours straight, so I'm desperate. I built my own ubertooth, checks out fine. flashed the bootloader onto it just fine too. Now i'm working on flashing the bluetooth_rxtx.bin file onto it using ubertooth_dfu but I keep getting the following error: No module named core Traceback (most recent call last): File "ubertooth-dfu", line 318, in <module> print dfu.get_status( ) NameError: name 'dfu' is not defined.
The command I use:
python ubertooth-dfu write bluetooth_rxtx.dfu
