  1. I tried using the default upgrade process for Packet Squirrel to attempt to install a custom ROM I built using the OpenWRT Image Builder because I found the Reference Board I believe is used by Packet Squirrel within the options to build to using that image builder. Now it won't start at all. A simple flash in the LED when I plug it in is all I get. Did I brick this device?
  2. So anyone who's seen the other firmware post has probably seen my adventures in trying to figure out the firmware upgrade process as the suggested tool in the post just doesn't exist, is available on github if you need it, but the links in the download center appeared to be broken earlier. I ended up bricking my shark to some degree - Turns out though as it's based on openwrt it has the inbuilt recovery features. So these are the steps I took to restore its functionality - you can follow, but it is by no means the official help, nor is it without massive risk. I was willing to chalk my jack up to being a lost cause. 1. Charge it - You probably won't have LEDS here to help you out (no charge level indication) but you only need sufficient power to "wait" for it to actually boot, so plug it in for 5 minutes and just let it charge. 2. Using either a pin*, sim-card removal tool, etc locate the hole on the back of the case and insert it most of the way, you should feel a button at the end of the travel. Rest it on it, but do not depress it. *I found it difficult to "aim" my pin, at the button as it's tiny... so I removed the casing of the shark jack... there are no screws, it comes apart with a spudger inserted down the side, really easily. 3. Power on the device to ARMING mode (middle position). Depress button using your pin now. Count 1000, 1, 1000 2... etc until 1000 7. remove pin! 4. Plug device into your Network Jack within a minute or so you should see green lights, indicating activity on the network port. 5. Set your host's IP to 192.168.1.2 and attempt to browse using a web browser to 192.168.1.1 you should see a screen like the following: 6. Once you've proven connectivity to the recovery webpage, PLUG IN YOUR USB-C... KEEP THE SHARK JACK POWERED THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS. 7. Select the OS tab. 8. Using a normal "upgrade-*.*.bin' firmware file available from the hak5 download center (download it, check the checksum), browse to the firmware. 9. CONFIRM YOU ARE ON THE OS TAB AND IT SAYS "e.g: OpenWRT.bin" DO NOT DO ANY OTHER TAB or you will be on your own. - select "start upload file". 10. Page will switch to a loading screen informing you to wait until the device reboots. 11. Once the device has rebooted you should notice this... the LEDs will have done their boot cycle (flashing greens) and turned to either flashing amber, indicating arming mode, or flashing/static blue to indicate the device is either charging or charged. 12. Set your host's IP to 172.16.24.2 and attempt to SSH to the device. You may get prompted about the SSH host key having been changed and may need to delete it from your known_hosts file, but once done... you can log back into the device using the default credentials of root:hak5shark. Now go get a celebratory beverage of your choice and get your hack on.
  3. I have read and followed the unbricking article and after i just got my bash bunny and tried to use the auto updater to update the firmware (the version was fine) it bricked it and now I cannot unbrick it I am plugging it in and unplugging after the green light is off 3 times then plugging in and letting it do the reset after the green light shows up I am switching to 1 but a green light never shows and when I switch it back to arming it doesn't show on my PC. Any suggestions, am I doing this wrong, what do I do?
  4. I let someone borrow my BB while the State gave me a free all expenses paid vacation recently...when I got it back it was Bitlocked !! I didn't know password so I just formatted the BB. Now it wont let me just run update or anything .What should I do?
  5. Hey. I got this WiFi Pineapple-NANO for christmas and I'm trying to get it set up correctly..I plugged it in, followed the instructions and started to update the firmware, the blue light didn't start blinking at all as I pressed upgrade, so I decided to unplug it and try again. Now when i plug it into my computer it blinks once, turns solid blue for about 3-4 seconds and then the light goes out. I have tried to follow the instructions on https://www.wifipineapple.com/pages/faq for firmware reset without luck. But I do realize I might be doing something wrong, as I simply go to my routers control panel as I browse to 192.168.1.1 I do have 'Bus 001 Device 018: ID 0b95:772a ASIX Electronics Corp. AX88772A Fast Ethernet' under lsusb so I know its recognized, but as far as I can tell it only recognizes it if I'm NOT holding down the reset buttom as i plug it in. Can anyone please tell me where I go from here?
  6. Looking for a little help with setting up my wifi pineapple nano I just got today. I am using a macbook pro (host) with Kali (VBox) and Kali (VMware). I initially started the setup of my pineapple on my mac using firefox and make it all the way to making the AP and assigned passwords. However, somewhere along the way I did something that has seemed to brick my pineapple. I have tried to reset the pineapple at least a dozen times, using the same method each time, from multiple websites, inside my mac os and Kali - VBox and VMware. When I plug in my pineapple, it blinks very rapidly. 1. unplugged pineapple 2. held down reset button --> plugged in pineapple using the usb eth to usb 3. released the reset button after 10 sec 4. used lsusb to ensure Kali was reading the pineapple as a usb 5. ifconfig and found pineapple on eth2, however mac address was different than what was on the bottom??? 6. ifconfig eth2 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 up --> ifconfig to verify the change ---here is where the problems begin--- #pineapple would drop its ip address of 192.168.1.2. It would only show the ipv6 7. entered 192.168.1.1 into firefox and would SOMETIMES get the firmware update page. 8. would load the firmware 'upgrade-2.0.1.bin', pineapple would flash rapidly 9. change the ip address back to 172.16.42.42, 'ifconfig eth2 172.16.42.42 netmask 255.255.255.0 up' 10. entered 172.16.42.1:1472 into firefox browser and would get a "firefox can't establish a connection at 172.16.42.42' Any help would be much appreciated. Here are the websites I have used to assist: https://www.wifipineapple.com/pages/faq
  7. I tried updating my bashbunny to 1.4 today, and it was going well.. Then, after i ejected it and put it back in to start the update it started flashing a "police" pattern. I am back on version 1.0 and no matter what update i download, i am not able to go up. I would really like some help... I don't understand what is wrong.

    Unrecoverable?

Hey guys, Followed the wiki to install the latest firmware manually, waited and after about ~15-20 minutes of waiting and seeing the LED was off, I touched it and it was blistering hot. I removed the bunny, and have proceeded to try every method or suggestion of recovery on this forum and under the sun. When I attempt recovery, it gets incredibly hot and after the red/blue flashed, it lights green for a second and then nothing. It isn't being detected by any of my machines, and I cant SSH into it or screen. I plug it in and it lights green for a second then goes off and will get hot if left in. Anyone experiencing the same or have any suggestions? I've already submitted a ticket, but I wanted to make one more attempt to find a fix.
  9. I copied "PasswordGrabber" to switch1, ejected the BashBunny, plugged it back in... And now the LED turns Green for 2 seconds.. then goes right back into recovery mode. Have tried for hours to see if it recovers. Ar1k88
  10. Hi, I bought the bashbunny when it just came out. Now when I try to use it, it won't start up at all. This is happening in arming mode as well as either switch. Physically, nothing appears to be wrong with the device, but plugging it into several computers, my phone and a wall adapter are all yielding the same results, nothing... does anyone have any ideas on this?
  11. Ok so i wanted to upgrade to firmware 1.3. That didnt work well. The bunny starts to flash the LED red->blue. as intended. Then the LED shuts off. No LED. I tried to boot it 3 times to trigger recovery. It then starts the flash red -> blue. After some time it comes a green LED and then it starts the red -> blue blinking again. After that a green LED and then it goes dark again. If i unplug it and plugs it back in, the green LED is solid for a sec and then ...wait for it...... DARK again. What a fun bunny, i might carry it out in the woods and leave it there :..( It also gets burning hot. I cannot accsess the files either. Maybe there is a way i dont know about? Its this BB dead now? 100 dollars out the window i guess
