  1. Hey all. One last update real quick. The project's final numbers are due Monday. So, we're hitting everywhere we can over this weekend to drum up a last stand for views. Thank you all so much for your help, if you guys are interested, i can post the final numbers and tell you how we did on Monday:D Again, thank you all so much, and have a great weekend!
  2. EDIT: Apologies. For some odd reason, my attention span shortened a great deal. I shouldn't have posted this. Digip is right, i'll leave this be for a few days.
  3. yeah...im just hoping we can get this project off the ground...ya know? Doesn't help that the person in first has an entire hemisphere on her facebook group.
  4. Again, thank you! We need everything we can get :)
  5. Thanks! Every little bit helps...hopefully this thread lights up and we can get a good response :)
  6. Encouraged, but no. Not required. Unless you want to be able to vote and post stories, in which case, yes. :D
  7. I'm currently working on a project in my Humanities class. It requires the creation, and subsequent marketing of, a website. We (myself and two other partners) created a digg-style site (using Pligg engine) called: http://www.sharedinjustice.com Basically, we figured that everyone has been ripped off, or heard of someone else being ripped off, and wanted to tell other people about it. This site is for sharing stories about injustice, or even just stories that are mildy interesting, or that include technology. We need help. We are tracking visits with google analytics, and we're trying to get more. The person in the lead currently has around 600 visits, we have 101. Please, if you could, visit the site. Tell someone else, or maybe a few others about it. Our grade depends on it! I know that i may not be as active here as i wish i could be, i was very active with PandoraRip a couple months ago. Digg.com failed, and i dare not venture into the endless pit that is 4chan. So please, Hak.5, help us out! Sincerely, ~Tivicus P.S.- It might just make you a better person! :D EDIT: If you also have any more ideas for marketing, by all means, do tell!
  8. so here's the deal i think: Normal Pandora's Jar is currently not functional due to a recent change in the way pandora is coded (i think...?) Yes the standalone works No, it doesn't fetch album art/album title The standalone is better because it works right now I am unsure of the status as far as getting it to work with firefox 3 and flash 9 r124...it's REALLY difficult to get a response from someone WORKING on the code i find... And thats the scenario i think.
  9. the program isn't working since the update of pandora a while back. sorry. I tried to use the pandora's jar standalone (found here: http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=6014 ) and it works. It doesnt DL artwork or put the album in the ID3 tags, but its close.
  10. Coming from experience, i recommend Super Smash Bros Brawl (wonderful family game, up to 4 at once, plus online play), Guitar Hero 3 (of course its awesome...its guitar hero. MIGHT want to wait until GH4 though...for the wii its a bit less wonderful than on other systems). I just rented Top Spin 3 tonight, so i hope that one is pretty good. if it is, i'll let you know. ~Tivicus
  11. sorry for the double post, but check this out: i was wondering why this thing wasn't working. I decided to play pandora with plug-tmp open, and whaddya know, nothing showed up. I told myself "huh. well, its playing from SOMEWHERE...". i looked outside of the plugtmp folder...and guess what i discovered? Pandora is now storing all music files as "plugtmp-(a number)" just in the temp folder. i renamed one of them, and wouldn't you know, radiohead started playing. Another one, then R.E.M. i dont know if this helps, or if this is universal for everyone, but the code could be changed to change the source folder of the files...correct? It would also need to re-write the file as an mp3...which would give the option of installing multiple file types for output...yeah?
  12. I love this program, but i've had 22,000 scans without a single rip. help? running vista home premium 32 bit FF 2.0.0.9
  13. Hey, so i've noticed something that happens a lot. It will sometimes totally miss a few songs and then grab one. On further troubleshooting, i found that only 1 song out of 5 was ACTUALLY in the plugtmp folder. Trouble is, plugtmp is the only folder i have, and when i refresh the page it might work for a little while then stop again. I love this program, its easy to use, and requires no installation. My problem is that it doesn't always grab tracks, and i'm unsure as to why. 32 bit Vista Home Premium Mozilla Firefox v.2.0.0.9 PandoraRip: v.1.0.7.0 any solutions?
  14. Hey. Beautiful program, works like a damn charm. Pandora's Jar has given me nothing but trouble, but this program is so much easier to use. I go to High Tech High School, and if you couldn't tell from the name, we use technology so much that we become really in tune with it. I took apart my first computer and troubleshooted it in the 7th grade. I have tons of software troubleshooting experience, yet i still havent managed to fix pandora's jar! I love it, you have my best wishes for the future of it, and i hope that you are well rewarded and honored for your achievements. ~Tivicus
  15. This is my post from a thread 2 days ago where i was only able to get 1 response: So heres the deal. I downloaded Pandora's jar about a week ago. I had trouble at the start, then realized i hadn't installed the greasemonkey script. Did so, and the page finally loaded right. Then i left the thing alone, let it go on cruise, ended up with probably around 140 songs. Yay...right? No. Not yay. Due to the fact that probably 8/10 songs were totally mis-labeled. Infuriating? Yes. So i had to start all over. No more heirachical structure stuff...Surely it would work then? Yes...for the shortest and most blessed period of time in the last week, it worked. Then, as all good things inevitably die, so to did this lull in errors. I stopped leaving it on cruise for so long, didnt want anything to go wrong. I would pause it after a successful download when i was heading for school or something of the kind, and that didnt go wrong. However, now, every time i open up pandora's jar it will open fine with no errors, but when the FIRST TRACK IT TRIES TO DOWNLOAD starts to download (after the 15s countdown), it will give me the following: unable to rip MP3 unable to find file make sure you have Pandora running in a FIRFOX browser. Then, on top of that, EVERY SONG AFTER WILL WORK. "Work" in the sense that it downloads and labels, however, as usual with technology, it does it wrong. It will download the PREVIOUS TRACK and then label it as the current track. So if i have tracks A,B, & C (in that order), then track A wont download right, it will just say "fetching ID3 Tags for Track A..." forever, or until i skip the song. Then, Track B will play, then will go through the process right (countdown, fetching ID3 tags, successful download), but though it is labeled "B", it will ACTUALLY be track A. This does not fix itself. It could basically run forever, permanently tagging the track beforehand. Its THAT FIRST TRACK! Not exactly the same, but similar. Any ideas?
  16. CONFIRMED SOLUTION: Okay. Its official, Pandora's Jar runs on an effective supply of ghetto knowledge. So here is what i did, and have to do each time i want to download a song RIGHT. 1. open pandora.bat. Let the error happen, and make sure cruise control is off. Pause the song. Now you have a first song that hasnt downloaded right. 2. Then close the java window for pandora's jar. Just do it. It wont shut down that firefox tab, so you're fine. now you are left with the open pandora page. 3. Open pandora.bat again to open a new tab with a fresh pandora window. Now, go ahead and pause that song. Now you have two open tabs with the same page title. 4. Now, press the get track button in the newer tab. It will download and label the other song from the other tab correctly. 5. Now here is the annoying part. you need to skip the song on both tabs. Yes, both. Even the one that you arent listening to. Now you can repeat step 4 again. You need to repeat step 5 each time, or else you will download the song from the newer tab with the title from the old tab. I'm going to try and find a way to make cruise control work. It IS that first song.
  17. sounds extremely similar. I wasnt running the standalone though, i was running 8.1.1 full from the download in the noob thread. A minute ago, i installed the standalone, and i just ran 8.1.1 standalone. It installed another one just called "Pandora's Jar: Standalone" without the 8.1.1, so im going to try that real quick. I'll report back if the problem manages to fix itself. Also, i tried the previous version of the full jar (8.1) and no luck. ~Tivicus EDIT: No luck. can anyone decipher this? I mean, can anything be told from this: INFO Thread-2 servlet.ProcessAction - handling mp3 request INFO Thread-2 servlet.ProcessAction - Finding current mp3 INFO Thread-2 util.Mp3Processor - locating mp3 WARN Thread-2 properties.DefaultProperties - Unable to load tmp mp3 retry count property. 18. Alright. I signed up for an account here at Hak5 specifically for this post. So heres the deal. I downloaded Pandora's jar about a week ago. This does not fix itself. It could basically run forever, permanently tagging the track beforehand. Its THAT FIRST TRACK! I have had a basic Javascript class, but that was freshman year in high school. I'm actually VERY adept at using computers, and even more skilled with physical hardware and software troubleshooting. However, i cannot find the right solution for this. So, thus, with an obvious tone of sarcasm and a humble heart, i ask for help from ye of the Hak. Anyone mind helping? Better yet, anyone had this problem and found a solution? ~Thanks EDIT: Furthermore, the CDDB function in fact does not function. I love the program, and help is greatly needed, because i love this thing so damn much. Humongous props to Darkone and all those helping him with this (if anyone :D) EDIT#2: Should have told you my specs. Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit Pandora's Jar 8.1.1 Flash Switcher (working, running 8.0 r24) Greasemonkey script (working) Firefox 2.0.0.5 (can upgrade to 2.0.0.9 & 2.0.0.14 if needed) Thats about it, right?
