TAFE was great for me in 2000. I had unlimited internet ISDN access, and my own personal network across the campus giving me heaps of room to store things and do research.
I will note I only went to this level because I found some loopholes and the instructor, who took a great dislike to me for whatever reason, tried to pretty much rubbish me in front of the class. I didn't go around trashing anything but i did leave a backdoor I haven't checked for year. I wonder......................

This has come up quite a bit through the past years. It all comes down to "would you really be willing to join a vpn with a bunch of "hackers". A vpn with complete strangers.
Yeah trusting strangers is hard. Perhaps make it invite only with invitees to supply verifiable data (address phone number, license number or something) but even then i don't know. I totally love the concept, but will the wannabe zero cool losers be able control themselves?

Most things have forums dedicated to them and any worth anything are going to have an IRC room. As for the elite underground scene, it's a "Don't call us we'll call you" type deal.

If people are prepared to pay, why stop them. I would rather learn how to do it myself rather than pay, but if that's the route some people want to take, why stop them.

I doubt I will be allowed too either. I work for an enrgy provider and they consider terrorism a real threat so everything we do is more or less hush hush. We do have pretty good sized data centres though in multiple locations.

My Antec 900 had the screws for the HDD in rubber so they are pretty quiet. The 150 gig raptor has a little noise but other than that prretty quiet.

Out of curiosity seeing as you are a fellow Aussie and all do you or have you knocked around the Ausphreak community at all?
I used to read their forums and stop bby their IRC a bit but haven't been back for ages. I have a terrible forum addiction and had to cull some back. Once I have boiled down my essential list, I might try and get involved there too.
