  1. I have a chance to be in a cert program for a security training for security+ and other infosec items. Does this sound like a worthwhile venture?
  2. Coming from a broken "strait" religious home. I can safety say it has left me agnostic and not so much wanting to meddle in the affairs of other people and what they do on their off time. Having a son has made me realize that I honestly don't care. I'm strait, if he is gay I will love him unconditionally, if he is religious or not I will love him unconditionally. If he is republican I will cry, then love him unconditionally (j/k)
  3. I've decided during my summer break to start learning how to program. I want to use my MBP to learn C/C++ (I know that most of you will disagree on the starting language and I may switch to Java.) However, Xcode is pretty daunting and I haven't figured out how to compile and work the program in my favor. Learning the code hasn't been the issue its trying to take tutorials and books written for either linux or windows and convert that knowledge to Mac. I've been googling for days on how to work xcode and compile. Can anyone suggest any sites or strategies on learning the program so I can start programming :) What I have done: read the Apple Developers site Googled for tutorials skimmed online manual. P.S. I thought this question was too newbish for the likes of the programming coding sub-forum. Feel free to move it if i was wrong.
  4. I run a mixture of OS X, Widows, and Ubuntu on my MBP. I'm by no means a hacker, more of a computer enthusius and someone that is facinated by the way computers work. However, I hate labels so I consider myself just a human.

  6. you should have a contest one the most creative place to place the hak5 stickers.
  7. Almost the same path as you. I got to see BT live in Atlanta and it is still one of the greatest shows I've seen. I also like the experimental bands that dabble in the techno sound such as the killers, postal service, and one you didn't include Radiohead.
  8. Awesome, I almost purchased this the other day. Glad I waited.
  9. I have a similar situation. I have an early P4 machine with 256mb of SDRam. I was thinking ubuntu but the GUI seemed to only work with the live CD but not when installed on the hard drive. Should I try another distro or just upgrade the memory which isn't a big deal to do.
  10. I'm going to try to partition in the GUILD Partition Table and re-install the distro to see if it works. edit: Didn't work, Looks like I'm stuck with the Live CD
  11. I've google this for a strait hour because i didn't want to post a question that may have such an obvious answer. However, with no fruitful returns here it is: I'm trying to build a Backtrack 3 beta live usb that i can boot with a MBP 15" 2GHz core duo 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM. I have boot camp loading OS 10.5.2 and Windows Xp Pro. At this point I've prepared the USB to be bootable but the Boot selector that comes with Boot Camp doesn't show the bootable usb as an option. I haven't tried it with another machine, but i've followed the directions to a tee. Any suggestions? Update: 1)using rEFIt to make partition menu. 2) USB shows up as Legacy OS. 3)Using BT3 WINUSB creator to set up USB drive 4)After Choosing USB in rEFIt, Black Screen, then BOOT ERROR message appears. I have also tried to boot Gentoo and DSL (damn small linux) in the same fashion with no avail. Any takers?
  12. I like the layout and the offers but I have to agree that you need an about page to explain yourself.
  13. The one in Atlanta had a few arrest and some police activity. I'll see if I can't get the youtube link when i post enough to post links.
  14. What type of OS do you need? are there any System requirements that you just have to have?
  15. What's funny is that when I was in high school, my friends had the same LAN's, IRC's and Forums that we used to communicate with. But because This "WildWest internet" as the lady in the first episode calls it, is now inhabited by the popular kids and is much easier to access with less computer knowledge, it is now an epidemic. It reminds me of how shootings in inner city schools happened all the time with little to no news coverage until it was starting to show up in white, suburban, middle class schools. Then and only then did the mass media and hysteria begin. Of course its horrible that teens and preteens are trying to grow up too early but that has been going on for awhile now. It has just found a new medium.
