  1. Just to warn all the smokers, the hostel is non smoking anyways so that's a given but England will be a non smoking country by the time this meet happens so you won't be able to smoke in a pub or club and if you do it'll get us kicked out and you a fine.

    Smoking outside is fine though, so we can just pop out for smoke breaks.

    We can claim to not know them.

  2. I'd love to see a few more people playing Core War

    Core War (or Core Wars) is a programming game in which two or more battle programs (called warriors) compete for the control of the MARS virtual computer (Memory Array Redcode Simulator). These battle programs are written in an abstract assembly language called Redcode. The object of the game is to cause all processes of the opposing program(s) to terminate, leaving your program in sole possession of the machine.

    You’re not really doing anything useful with but it’s a fun thing for programmers to compete in.

    I've just been reading the Wikipedia page at work, and it looks quite interesting from a competitive side, and programming side.  Maybe we could add this to the list of things to try out at the EU meetup.

  3. Updated list:

    - MSVC6

    - Notepad++

    - uTorrent

    - Mozilla Firefox w/ Firebug

    - XChat

    - Pidgin

    - TightVNC

    - Winamp

    - VLC

    - Portable MS Word 2003

    And note:

    PoyBoy's signature is talking about "1337-speak" and grammar, yet the "Don't" in the animation is missing an apostrophe.  I just thought I'd like to point the irony out. :)

  4. boristsr has the right idea.  It will execute code inside the runtime environment, if the application crashes the runtime environment, only the environment will crash, not the system.  It will be solely based upon modules that developers write, and contribute, so anything the modules allow, Metascript will be able to do.  For example there will be a console module, that allows input, and output from the console, a file module, allowing file input and output.

  5. While ( Romanian_Chicks == HOTT )

    {

    Cout << "WOOT" << endl;

    }

    Of course we have heard of Romania, Dracula's from there ROFL j/k.

    Aren't the chicks in the movie Hostel, Romanian?

  6. Ok, hide your files 101

    1.move all of your files to a single folder.

    B.highlight the folder.

    3.hold down the shift key.

    D.push the delete key.

    5.push yes to the dialog that pops up.

    Congrats, your sensitive files are now pretty darn secure.

    Until someone with half a brain recovers them.
