I've been looking for a way to transmit media to my tv. Mostly fansubs and programmes like Hak5. So a standard mediacenter/network would give a lot of problems with codecs and other things like mkv or ogg files.
I'm looking for a way to essentially use the tv as a 2nd monitor, but then wireless. I've seen some dvi wireless dongles, but i've no experience with them or know anyone who does. Also i'm currently not running a 24/7 server and no wired network downstairs. So i still have a lot of options, but they all are not really favourable or take more time then they give comfort.
Convert all programmes to standard avi or anything a normal mediacenter can play (lot of time and effort
Make a wired network to a downstairs pc
Make a wireless network to a downstairs pc
Buy a new tv with a network acces point
Or an option to do a wireless 2nd monitor that i havn't found. So mostly this is a question if someone knows that kind of solution or a complete new option i'm not aware off.
The pc with the media
hd2900xt with tv out and 2*dvi
Windows vista home premium
Wired network through a router
The tv
Scart, composite and tulip connection
no console that could function for the programme trevirsty or similar
