  1. Still waiting.... no email and no pm received so far...
  2. Well I tried again and, once again, it bounced right back. Here's the output: Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out. <Txqtftqx@gmail.com>: 72.14.247.27 does not like recipient. Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 No such user 18si7649981agb.36 Giving up on 72.14.247.27. So I guess I'll wait for a pm link
  3. Your email address must be wrong. My email bounced back with "Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 No such user" Oh well. guess I'll have to wait.
  4. You could also have hacksaw copy designated types of files (*.doc *.xls, etc) from the My Documents and other network shares and send them along with the files copied off the usb drive. It would be even better if it could remember what it had already copied so as not to repeatedly send the same files every day (unless they have changed since last copy). Also, it would be nice to experiment with different delivery methods. Some networks block outbound port 25 so you need to maybe have it search for whatever proxy the logged in user uses to get out to the internet and then send out the goodies using that proxy, maybe through a webmail account if port 80 is the only port allowed outbound. anyway, you asked for suggestions and here they are. good luck.
  5. After checking the cables, and if the problem persists, I would suggest you take out the drive any try installing it on another PC so that you can eliminate the original PC as the source of the problem. That way you'll be able to narrow down the problem
  6. How true. That type of childish behaviour is directly proportional to the maturity level of many of the regulars in those forums. All in all I think Hak5 has a fairly decent number of regulars that genuinely try to help out. A small minority of aggressive idiots are really just unloading their own frustration of social inadequacy in a "safe" anonymous setting like the internet. I suspect that in the real world they have many issues to work out.
  7. You're right. From the sound of things it is a hardware problem and only specialists with top equipment will be able to retrieve your files. I'm afraid you won't have much of a chance on your own.
  8. Well, like you said, there is no perfect solution. You are in a sense a victim of your own success and so will attract large crowds; some better than others. Like in any community, you have a hierarchy. Those at the top can judge the newcomers' posts and decide whether to let them have access to the restricted areas or not. This should be done maybe with a mix of quantity and quality of posts. again, only admins or trusted regulars should have the capability to judge. Of course this is a lot of work. The other simpler solution is to allow everyone access and then just ignore the bad ones and their questions. Eventually they will move on to other boards as people tend to do when ignored or banned repeatedly. like I said, there's no perfect solution but I think you've all done a good job so far.
  9. So that's why I could no longer access the USB section. Fair enough, it's your board, you call the shots. I do take issue with some people branding me as a script kiddie in the thread I started regarding this topic (can't link there because I can no longer see it) just because I have few posts on this board or made a pun on "sandbox" and "big boys" (it's called irony on this side of the pond). I understand you get upset with all the "please help me hack into system A or B" posts from people with malicious intent and unwilling to learn anything for themselves. However you should not lump everyone into the same bag merely because they have few posts. I know it is hard to distinguish the wheat from the chaff but maybe a better criteria would be the content of their posts rather than the number. I've been on the net since the days of the 2400 baud modem (my first one - ah the memories) and, although I have no special leet haxor skills (i can't even get your lingo down properly), I am a true hacker in the original sense of the word since way before most of you were born. That was in the spectrum 48k days for those of you old enough to remember... In the real world one is polite to people one does not know, unless they prove themselves unworthy. It's called proper manners and I don't see why they should not be followed on the internet also. Remember to be polite as you would like others to be towards you. You never know who's on the end of that IP address.... That's it. End of inter-generational rant
  10. yes they are. apparently my thread along with the USB section are back so I guess that means I'm out of the sandbox and can play with the big boys again :-)
  11. Well I don't think I am doing anything wrong. How hard can it be to follow a thread you've been following for months? I mean there isn't that much room for error. There is definitely something going on because I now have access to the USB section again. Also noticed that in my profile earlier today I couldn't access my previously posted messages. That's why I posted this message http://forums.hak5.org/index.php/topic,869...7.html#msg89307 because I thought someone was having fun messing with me. Well now I can see all my messages again and apparently I'm not the only one with these probs so something strange is going on.
  12. My thread started a few days ago asking why I no longer had access to the USB Hacks section of the forum has apparently been erased (it was posted in the community projects forum I think last thursday). :-? Could some admin please explain what is going on here or at least send me an email explaining why apparently I've been put in the sandbox like a 5 year old. Thank you
  13. I have and it tells me the topic is missing or off limits. Since I never had problems accessing those threads in the past and even helped GonZor with the first "no disk" bugs in his payload I don't understand why they would be off limits to me so I presumed they were missing. Can someone explain why I can't access them anymore? Thanks
  14. I must have missed something because I can no longer find the USB hacks threads we had on here, like the hacksaw and switchblade threads. Can someone please explain what happened to these. Thank you
  15. I think this code is great. :-) I was wondering, however, if it would be possible to make it more stealthy. My idea would be to copy the *.doc (or other types specified) files in My Documents folder on target machine to a temp folder on the harddrive, zip them and then email them out to an email (gmail) account like in kz26's suggestion, finally deleting the temp files so as to leave no trace. All done stealthily with no message or command window popups. What do you think? It's basically a combination of your code with kz26's idea and the hacksaw capability to stealthily email out the results to a waiting gmail account.
