  1. In our old place we had it all in the bedroom, with about 1/4 of the room we have now. Needless to say, we had no closet. Now, we have a ton of room, and she's weeded me down to my desk only. Of course, I have 2 laptops for work, my primary personal laptop, my audio reciever, a workstation for Ubuntu Studio, and my lcd monitor. most of it runs all the time.
  2. I have a partially finished basement, and the whole rack will reside down there, so noise is no concern when they are on. I tried getting my wife to let me put it in the bedroom, but that was a no-go.....
  3. SO true! When I started with the current company, there were 5 guys in my dept. Now, we have 3, and will not be getting any more. We have to have 3 minimum, simply for on-call rotation(a week at a time, and have to have 15 minute response time). It is also very much same thing-different day. My group does primarily end-user support for a sales and customer service team, as well as training and coporate offices. I get tickets every day with the same questions. Keep in mind, we support a large remote-user base over VPN, and this gets fun... My most famous one... " Why aren't my network drives mapping??" "Are you connected to the VPN?" "I can got on MSN." "That's the internet, how about the little paddlock icon by your clock?" "It's unlocked" "Click that, and click connect". "Hey, I havemy x: drive again!" "Have a nice day, I'll talk to you tomorrow." Yes, that is exactly how it usually goes.
  4. So, we upgraded our servers at work, and I took home some new toys... I've got 3 Compaq DL-380's, running dual PIII 800's, and 3gb RAM each, as well as being loaded with 5 18.2gb SCSI drives a piece. I even got the Netshelter rack with them! Now, add to that the 5 Cisco 1900 switches I already have(24 port), and the question is... what kind of cool stuff can I do now? I really have no idea what I want to do with this. It was all pulled from a working environment. they were all DBAN'd before release, but I have the option of running my own copies of Win server 2003, or running a Linux Server distro. Should I build game servers out of these? I could run VMWARE easily, we did that at work on these. Web servers maybe? AHHHH!!! I hate getting good deals when I have no plans or ideas!
  5. Tesla coils rock!! They do a big gathering in Baraboo, WI, which is less then 45 minutes from me. I think it's called lightning on the lawn or something, where this vid was actually shot.
  6. S1 Ep3 I believe. Has been a good ride so far!
  7. I had this reserved for my wife, and picked it up yesterday. Normally, I don't care for these type of games. I just install them, and step away. 3 hours later..... I finally quit the game. This is addictive! Holy crap!
  8. www.myspace.com/blownpassedu - I hate MS, but everyone I know uses the thing. www.lanstockusa.com - My LAN party website with forums. Rather inactive, but we're getting there. AIM - sportrods Xfire- Nophix XBL gamertag- Nophix I think that's pretty much all I use right now.
  9. Currently working on Infinite Undiscovery.

  11. Notice, on the commercials, all the users seem to be basic users, people who would use it at home. Also notice they don't really try out anything but the interface. Yeah, it looks gorgeous! now take that home and plug in your 4 year old digicam and 6 year old printer. Scanner? Faggeeetabadit! I do have to say the 64bit version does seem to be a world of improvement. On a machine with solid hardware, it really wakes up. Of course, it needs to be a very good system with SATA and lots of RAM, but I will admit to it running far better on a machine like that than I could get XP to run. Man I hate admitting that.... Btw, my one laptop shipped with Vista, just after it was released. It actually was a celeron M with 512mb RAM. It lasted 15 minutes before I went to Best buy and got memory. Still sux, and got dual-booted with Ubuntu.
  12. He got into an argument with a rock. The rock lost....
  13. OMFG ECtOPLASM!!! J/K It controls all the outlets by our entertainment center, and the kids wouldn't leave it alone. The X360 has enough reliability issues without child induced power-surges...
  14. My NES Advantage controller. Got it NEW. Along with my Launch model NES(still running, w00t!). Man, I'm old...
  15. VaKo, that's an awesome idea! I know the environments I work in are Windows-based. Btw, could you point me in the direction of that script?
  16. I know it's a little black hat-ish, but I would also like to see a segment about good fast data destruction. Like a Sean Kennedy-esque dump and run situation. He touched on the basics, but how about something more related to the data end of it? Not that we would NEED this... But in case of a raid by big brother you know...
  17. Ok, speaking of doing segments, any chance of doing something with the iPhone 3G? This thing is marvelous, but yet nobody has really featured anything on it...
  18. Darren and Matt, thank you for clearing a few things up. Wess will be missed, but in all, I'm still interested in seeing where the show will go from here. As long as it keeps up the underground technolust, and doesn't turn into some AOTS or G4 repeat, we're good to go! Btw, what ever happened to Evil Server? Was he finally dismantled? Just curious... You never know who's lurking on your network...
  19. Thanks for posting this Darren! I was standing in Circuit City looking at this less than a week ago, and I nearly bought it. I decided to wait until I had seen some reviews(it was the fist I had heard of it). I want something similar to the eeepc, but I could use the horsepower, and the new price range of the Asus really turned me off. Package that with XP(required if I want ot use it at work), and it really fit the bill. Seems like I can replace my Aspire with this and be happy
  20. I don't know if they change the firmware to lock it out, but on my USCC Q9C I just go into internet sharing and enable it. Not supposed to since it is technically against TOS for USCC, but if you aren't running BT or hogging bandwidth, they don't seem to care.
  21. I'm feeling some fail from Rev3 as of late. The content just hasn't been there. However, Diggnation is almost always good, and so is TRS. Maybe Hak5 will help bring Rev3 content back to life. The thought of going to the more frequent episodes scares me there though. Hak5 is usually a good hour or more of total awesomeness, and it seems that breaking that down would kinda kill it. I'll definately keep watching though, and hope it keeps it up. Btw, when did Wine Library Tv join Rev3?
  22. Congrats! Human Parent XP raised +100!!
