  1. Its been a few days now and there the problem seems to have solved itself. The routes are no longer being added. I found that the IPs belong to a ISP in Canada. Thanks for all the help though.
  2. Thanks for the suggestions. Will try when I get home.
  3. Thanks for the replies. The routes are added ~1 hour after I remove them. And yes they're not the same routes but are from the same IP range (ex. they all start with 66.xxx.xxx.xxx). I don't do anything and they just "appear" about an hour after I remove them. Is my server compromised?
  4. Hi everyone, I recently did a route print on a Windows 2003 Server running Windows Media Services. There are a lot of IPs in there that don't belong to me. And when I delete them "new" ones are added about an hour later all from the same IP range. What does this mean? Is someone trying to take my content?
  5. Thanks for clarifying this for me. boristsr, I checked on wikipedia and it says that Nod32 is written entirely in assembly :? but whatever. We all know that wikipedia is the most accurate source of info
  6. I keep hearing that programs written in assembly uses less resources. For example, I often hear that Nod32 is written completely in assembly and therefore has lower memory usage and gives it faster scanning speeds than other AVs. I thought that all programming languages compiles to assembler or machine language. If so, can someone explain to me why programs written in assembly language is more "efficient" than say a program written in C++? Or at least point me to a resource. Thanks in advance.

    RSS Feed

Is there a way for me to automatically (every 6 hours) save a RSS feed in either HTML or PDF format?
  8. I looked into it and it sounds kind of risky. Okay very risky. But if there's no way around it then I have no choice but to do it or wait about 10 more days before my uncle gets back. Anymore suggestions?
  9. Thanks for all the help so far. And I didn't use the setup to install TightVNC. I just ran the executable from the Zip that I extracted to the desktop. It was never meant to be a permanent solution. I was suppose to get my computer back a few weeks ago but I'm too busy with school to be driving that far for my computer. But I do use the computer for downloading things and such so... Anyways, how do I put it on the DMZ? Can someone explain or point me to a resource? Thanks for the help.
  10. If I use metasploit how do I get it through the NAT router? And how do I "repair" the damage I've done because if I do decide to use metasploit I'll be using the VNC injection thing right? And thanks for all the help VaKo.
  11. I have no idea how to do that. Can you explain or direct me to a resource? And is there a easier way? I don't like the idea of "exploiting" my own box or I'm just being paranoid.
  12. I think its something wrong with the VNC server because it "connects" but before it can finish loading the screen it closes. When I try to connect using Java, it connects but it doesn't display the "login" dialogue box. It says the applet has loaded but that's it, just blank. The title bar on Firefox displays the name of my computer and doesn't display anything. As for patches, I haven't updated in a few months (~3 months). I didn't want to update because I don't have VNC running as a service. And how can I use metasploit to reconnect?
  13. I know its still on because I can see it on the router's status page (the DHCP lease was renewed). And I'm not running VNC as a service which makes it a problem.
  14. I'm running a Windows XP (Home Edition) computer behind a NAT router and I control it remotely using VNC. However, I recently lost control of it. I'm not sure what happened but when I tried connecting to it yesterday it just wouldn't connect. No error message or anything the viewer just opened and then closed. I'm using TightVNC server and I've tried using the TightVNC viewer, UltraVNC viewer and the Java viewer to connect to the computer with no success. The machine is located in my uncle's house and he's out of town for the next 2 weeks or so which means I can't get physical access to it (not to mention he lives ~80 miles from me). I can connect to the router fine (remote management is enabled). I checked all the settings on the router such as port forwarding and such. Is there anyway for me to get shell access to the computer so that I can restart the machine or just the VNC server? Thanks in advance.
  15. Thanks for the reply. If I do go with a USB adapter which one would you recommend?
  16. Hey everyone, I just bought a new laptop (HP DV2040us) and it comes with an express card slot. I can't sniff using the built in wireless (subject title). On my old laptop (dv1331se) I've always used a PC card to do sniffing, scanning, etc. Is there a way for me to get my built-in card to go into promiscuous mode? If not, which express card wireless adapter would you guys recommend? I personally, can't seem to find any express card adapters in stores or online. Thanks in advanced.
  17. Thanks for the suggestions. My dad really likes Sony computers but I prefer HP's because the Sony costs more for the same specs. Is that from HP's website or retail? And is it after rebates or as is?
  18. My dad is looking to get a laptop for work. He wants something that is powerful (preferably enough to do minor video editing), thin, light, and durable. He really wants a Thinkpad but they're expensive. Any suggestions? Budget is around $1000 to $1200 And preferably an Intel Core Duo and Windows XP Pro.
  19. More RAM will go a long way for a laptop. It'll speed some things up and very so slightly increase your battery life.
  20. I've been looking into Monowall and I think thats what I'm going to be using.
  21. Thanks for all the links. I'll have to take my time looking through this new info. And is it hard to setup one of these things (Captive portals)? And is Radius hard to implement?
  22. I was wonder if anyone can explain to me how to set up a wireless network like the one in my school's library. The wireless network has no encryption so anyone can just hop on it. When you connect you can't access the internet until after you've opened your browser which gets automatically redirected to the library's login page and enter your student ID and PIN. After you've logged in a popup comes up that you have to keep open in order to remain connected. I want to set up a wireless network similar to this so I hope someone can at least explain to me how it would be setup and how it works. Thanks in advanced.
