Be sure to navigate to http://172.16.42.1 in the recovery stager with NO PORT! Make sure to type in http as browsers auto add https 443/SSL. To flash the recovery image you need to access the webserver on the default port - trying to connect to the WiFi Pineapple UI on port 1471 will not work! Also try connecting on a private session or icognito tab especially if you got 14 browser plugins and no script and what ever else that could be messing with it.
