  3. The last Lego sets I bought was the Viking Fort, and the ship, that was like 3 months ago.
  4. Vista is a desktop OS, so RHEL server edition does not matter. And even is you buy Red Hat's Enterprise Linux Desktop version it's still cheaper than vista. Solaris for desktop machines has an optional service contract for $300 bucks too, but thats not an OS license. I would have included OpenVMS, HP-UX, and AIX if they had the OS price listed seperately from the hardware. The $10 OpenVMS hobbyist license does not count, as it is non-comercial. Contracts with an educational institute rally doesn't count either, as your school is paying for a non-comercial site license.[/u]
  5. Well I don't know about that, however I don;t know if it's been changed but when they bought hotmail they tried to replace the Sun boxes with exchange. It was unable to take the load and they put the Sun boxes back. This ihas likely changed now though.
  6. All hail :) huzzah. Not sure if this is the right minifig but this alone took a poop ton of digging. Dude with arrow pointing at him. Though I did put the Templar Cross and armour and sheild on him.
  7. Name of my favourite Lego dude from whan I was a kid - mispelt of course, I was about 8 years old then. Used name for my first D&D character back in 87. Used it as my handle when I got into the BBS scene in 90. Kept the mispelling, haven't used anything else.

  10. I'm rather leary of any laptop under USD1k -- I'd look into getting a used high end laptop. The inexpensive new ones often use propriatory chip sets, shared vram, and no case hardening what so ever. This is pretty much so true of any company that sells them, and the bigger companies tend to hide why it's cheap model in their ads. Great it's $500. Then you get it and the video is slower than mollases. The LCD has uneven back lighting and a tiny viewing angle. The case has no re-enformcement and hence breaks easily. You can't install any OS other than the one that came with it. Either wait till you can get a higher end laptop, or buy a used one off someone with money to burn that buys a new one every year. Government actions are good source of these, though they often remove the hard-drive, so take note of that.
  11. 1) camera stabalisation: Ideally get a tripod, for no money however, find a platform that can rotate put it at the level you want to do the video at. Pick a level, either seated or standard but avoid alternating. Get someone else to pan the camera. 2) lighting: get at least 3 of the brightest lights you can find, get some white posterboard reflect the light off the posterboard, you should have at least 2 lights for background, and at least one fot the subject. 3) as you don't have a good camera try and keep your self at approximately the same distance from the camera that will prevent the nasty focus problems. 4) Audio: Use a seperate mic for audio, even a cheap mic will be fine, or you could use like a gaiming headset or something. 5) don't do eveything as a single take - take the time to plan it out. To do live type stuff you need mulitble cameras and a video mixer. anyways hope that helps
  12. I inherated my brothers C64 in 89 I think. I made a bunch of silly text games, then learnt 6502 asm and made some basic shooters. A couple years later I got a Mac Classic and played with hypercard and learned C with Think/Lightning C. Wrote a simple shooter type video game, and did alot of the common gfx demos.
