I think the best indicator for us would be for you to simply tell us how you use the card to get it. If you just touch it or get it close to the door and it clicks open.. its RFID, if you swipe it, its a magnetic strip.

Thanks for the reply... I was wondering if, for the streaming vid and music, if there was some kind of web based stream. Kinda like a media center on the web, where a user can select and view/hear what he/she wants from the site itself. Does anyone know of soemthing like that?

This might be in the wrong forum but w/e. I had been planning to make a server out of an old box I got, but then relized that my internet and ISP kinda REALLY SUcK! And did some searching and bluehost seems pretty awesome. So im going to be hosing with them. The question is: I want to be able to strem music and vids along with ftp: I know this has been talked about before here but cannot find where. Can anyone point me in the best direction with streaming music and vids?

Yes you can... as well as MANY other somewhat more legit uses, so all and all, its probably worth doing, at the very least becasue it would just be neat to have. But seeing as how you can copy and RFID tag from over 50 feet pretty easily... the uses are pretty unlimited

mml, I have a similar problem. I often go to my girlfriends school on the weekend, and she's on the top floor of her dorm. So for her to come and let me in is a real pain (mml, only a 3 min walk or so, but still). Her key cards are RFID, and with very little googling, I found out how to copy an RFID card, but seeing as how it is pretty expensive, I have not done it yet. You just need to figure out what kind of card it is, if its RFID then there is PLENTY of info out there for everything you need, but you'll end up spending about $150 or so to get it all togather.

or find the back end of an open truck I like that one. But I was wondering if there were anyway to install an OS remotely or (since the old PC has 2 HDD's) maybe some way to virutralize it but if that doesnt exist, it looks like more scrapping for me. :cry: :D

the problem is that I dont have a main PC, only a laptop and an old PC I want to put the Media center on.

Im trying to set up a media center with my xbox 360, so I took a spare computer and I want to put windows media center on it. The problem is that its a old computer and doesnt have a DVD-R on it. I borrowed a friends external DVD-R and thought If I installed it on the computer then I could just go into the bios, and tell it to boot from that first, but it doesnt find it. Is there any way I can boot a DVD on a computer without a DVD drive?

So, I cant say that I have done anything like this before, but... I work construction and part of my job today was to clean up a site and take the trash to the local landfill. So I drive up to the dump, and begin throwing my trash into it when I spot a CPU to my left. Not being able to resist, I jump in, grab it, and toss it into my truck. Has anyone else ever done similar? But the question: When I got home and booted it up I found out that its a pentium 2 processor with a 4.3 GB harddrive, and its running WINDOWS 95!!!!1!1!! Aparently from what I can tell this computer has not been used since 2001. Can anyone think of something I can do with a comptuer like this running windows 95? If not im just gonna throw xp on it, get a NIC card and make Yet Another Headless Server. But I would like to do something kewl with it as is? I just havent seen a '95 box since my old when, I havent seen it since like 98. ps.- If anyone was wondering, no, there was no intresting information on the computer.

Which is why its harder than that to get the SAM. Try using a tool like pwdump or booting into live cd and extracting it.

i really dont have anything important to say but "I <3 OPERA SOOOO MUCH! Opera just feels like home, while firefox... just seems to ridged and cold. But Opera does have a few problems, and is buggy sometimes... so I use both. But I Love Opera.
