  1. In you're case I would use Veeam, way easy to recover plus they provide outstanding support. I've used VMware since 4.0 and recently switched to KVM and Proxmox. I've always use the 2 backups on site and 1 off site methodology.
  2. I agree, that more women should go into technology. The few I've had the pleasure of working with were outstanding. I've tried to get both my daughters, now in college, into tech, but they have their own minds and desires, one is going into Graphic arts, the other into Science/Bio Tech stuff. At my current employer, I've been able to suggest that they should hire more females, I think my voice was heard, but the resumes we get, have no females applying for any of the dev or support positions. They all pay very well by the way. Personally, I would hire a female if one applied as they are more empathetic then their male counterparts when working with end users and colleagues.
  3. +1 for Zoneminder. I've set it up with about 45 Axis poe cameras, its outstanding. Depending on the host hardware, one linux Zoneminder VM should handle 15 poe cameras running 640x480 at 15 frames per sec. While thats a small picture, remember that is about security not about hd tv quality display. You can run higher resolution of course, but that translates into more pizels being saved. I sent all the /video to a SAN. I seem to remember that at my resolution I was able to save a weeks worth of video at 1 TB of storage per camera. that meant recording all day for 12 hours, and motion detect for the next 12 hours. All together using 3 virtual servers running zoneminder.
  4. Thought Id chime in. I've used Sonicwall for years and swear by it. I also have a Sonicwall 300 running at home. Their support is outstanding. I always wanted to try a pfsense for home as I've heard allot of good things about it, but I just stuck with what I know.
