I have a WifiPIneapple Nano (version 1.0.1) and I am trying to update the filmware. However, when I go to advanced>check for updates, it just says "Please wait while the filmware is being downloaded" indefinitely and the progress bar never moves. Does anyone have any ideas or know how to update the filmware manually?

    Thanks!

Do you have your nano connected to an internet connection. If you go to the Dashboard page and try to Load Bulleting do they show up after a few seconds? If not, it sounds like you don't have a connection to the internet. There are other posts in here that tell you how to share your computers internet connection with the nano when it's plugged in or you can use a usb wireless dongle plugged in to the usb port to connect. If you don't have one, they sell compatible ones in the Hak shop.

    Hi

I bought a Pineapple nano and working with it.

But there are some questions about the Association of Clients.

I use the following path to setup my Pineapple.(Ver 1.12)

    a. Recon -> Scan -> (on target wifi) Add Clients and add them to "PineAP Filter" one by one

    b. Filter -> set "Client Filtering" to allow mode

    c. PinAP -> switch "PineAP Daemon" to Enable and check all 6 chekboxes

    d. Recon ->(on target wifi) Select Deauth and deauthenticate all clients.(many times)

When i deauthenticate all clients my Galaxy S7 deauthenticates from my target wifi which has wpa2 password.

but again my Galaxy S7 selects original target wifi NOT Rogue wifi which is open.

    here my questions :

1- What is problem with above scenario ?

2-Only clients can connect to wifipineapple which was connected to at least one open wifi before. is it true ?

    3- Suppose these :

    a. I have 2 clients which does not connected to any OpenWifi before.

    b. I have 1 wifi with wpa2 password named "MyWiFi". i set it on that 2 clients.

    c. Start Pineapple and after scan i find only "MyWiFi" with 2 clients connected.

So in this case WifiPineapple is not applicable since my clients have not connected to any OpenWifi before.

    Is is true ?

4- When signal strength is important ?

    1. I don't see a problem with the scenario you mention. Are you assuming there is a problem with it because the S7 isn't automatically connecting when you deauth it?

    2. No, clients don't need to have been connected to an open wifi prior to it being able to connect to the pineapple.

Signal strength could be part of the issue you are having. I have also had some difficulty getting specific devices to connect. Some times it takes a lot of patience and multiple times of trying. Not all devices connect the same way. I believe there are other posts on the forums addressing this issue.

It was just randomly turing off with or without running anything on it.

Does it happen when running on battery too? Or are you only running it with the power cord that was supplied? I haven't yet but I plan to order another power cord online because mine doesnt seem like a very good quality so I think that's causing my problem.

Someone else recorded a video and mine is setup exactly the same from a factory reset. Here's the thread -

Hmm. Have you only done one factory reset? I know it sounds weird but I had a few strange issues that were resolved after factory resetting a few times. Not sure why this would help but in my case it did.

I just got the Wifi Pineapple Nano Tactical Elite and I was wondering how you can use the included usb wifi dongle to remotely manage it over wifi. How would I go about doing this? That way I can manage it from a device when its running off the battery pack when its hidden.

Why do you want to use the usb wifi dongle for remote management? Is there a reason why you arent connecting to to Management AP that you set up when you set the pineapple up?

I think you will find that most people use the usb dongle to connect the pineapple wirelessly to an internet connection so they can use it in a Man-In-The-Middle configuration. I believe the Management AP is what you are looking for. If you dont remember what you called it, you can find it on the Network Settings Page

I just got mine over a week ago and it keeps turning off and I have it plugged into the outlet. I have tried resetting and rebooting it and it doesn't stop it from randomly turning off.

Does it completely turn off or reboot? Is it only turning off under a heavy load (like while running Recon?) Or will it randomly shut off with no load on it?

  7. I was wondering if anyone else had issued when plugging their Tetra in. I bought mine when it first came out and had to wait for the replacement AC adapter. I've hardly used it over the last year but notice when I do, i get a spark when I plug it in. It doesn't matter which end I plug in first, the tetra or the wall outlet, it always sparks. I was curious if this was an issue with the AC adapter. I was considering buying a new adapter from amazon but wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem. It doesn't appear to have damaged anything and what i've done to alleviate it now is to plug it in to the tetra then a power strip which is turned off. Once it's plugged in I turn the power strip on.

  8. I was playing around with the Connected Clients module on the Nano and I noticed the "Blacklist" section shows all of the mac addresses I added to the Filters section of the nano. I have the client fitering set to allow those mac addresses but ConnectedClients still shows it as a blacklist. I'm wondering it the module will interfere with the allow option in filtering or if the word blacklist is just a bad choice of terms in the ConnectedClients module.

  9. I've been using the Nano & Tetra for a little while now. I like the interface but I would like to see some new features added to future versions if possible.

    1) On the "Recon" page, after a scan, it would be nice to see something indicating which SSIDs & MAC address have already been added to the pool or filter. Something like a little green check mark next to it or the MAC highlighted in a color that wil indicate which you have already added. If I'm trying to target all devices that connect to a network that I'm testing and I run the recon multiple times I have no idea which ones from the 2nd scan have already been added.

    2) On the "Recon" page, It would be nice to have an option in the SSID drop down menu to add all of the client MACs associated with that network to the filter instead of having to do them 1 at a time.

    3) When adding SSIDs or MAC Addresses to the Pool/Filter from the Recon screen, in order to close the pop up window that you add them from, you have to click the tiny little 'X' in the upper right corner. It would be nice if you could just click anywhere on the greyed out area behind the pop up window. Similar to how you can click outside of a picture on facebook to close it. See attached image.

    4) I upgraded to the newest firmware this afternoon and noticed that I couldn't find an option to backup all of my modules and settings prior to the upgrade in order to restore them after flashing the new firmware. It would be nice if this could be built in to a future version so I don't have to manually set everything up again and re-download all the modules and dependencies every time there is an update.

    5) Is there a reason why certain options always go back to default when you go back to the page it's on?

    6) This isn't a feature request but I'm wondering if anyone else noticed it as well. I'm thinking there may be a bug but I don't want to submit it until I can duplicate it more frequently. I'm using the RALINK USB WIFI Dongle from the Hakshop in order to connect via client mode (wlan2) at my house. Prior to the most recent firmware I noticed that after a while the client connection would drop and the pineapple would no longer be connected to the internet. I had to go back in to the Management AP and manually connect it again. It was an annoyance but I was able to do it. After upgrading to the newest firmware I had the same issue but when I went in to the management AP and rescanned for networks the one I was connected to (my home network) no longer showed up. I had to manually power cycle the device. I re-connected it and after a while it happened again. This time no networks show up when I scan wlan2. I just get the "No networks found" message which I know isn't true.

    7) Is there a way to have the pineapple automatically connect to a specific network via client mode on boot up? I couldn't seem to do it. I would like it set so that it automatically connect to my home network every time it's powered on. That way if I lose power and it reboots when the power turns back on, I don't have to go back in and configure it again.

  10. Which edition you choose really depends on how you plan on using it. I bought the tactical edition of the nano and the tetra. The nano is a more portable device so having the battery and case is a good thing for it. In my case, I probably won't ever use the tetra in a mobile scenario. It will most likely always be plugged in and stationary. The backpack that comes with the tetra tactical is cool but in my opinion, not very functional for a mobile use scenario because you can't secure it inside in a way that protects the antennas very well. The best feature of the tactical edition is the batteries. But if you're just looking to learn and don't plan on walking around with it, you won't need those. Also, while i like the batteries they include, and prefer to support Hak5, they aren't the o ly spurce for batteries if you decide in the future that you want to buy one and they aren't selling them by themselves. Right now I think you can only get them as part of a kit.

  11. Mine seems to be stuck on the "shipping label created" stage on the USPS website.

Darren, any idea what's going on with this? Mine is too. Since it was created yesterday, it hasn't changed. Still says the post office hasn't picked it up. Today I received a 2nd email with a different tracking number and that one has the same status as well.

  12. Patience folks. Whether it's the port in Hong Kong or the USA port it'll be within the next week or so that people are getting their shiny new pineapples.

It's likely the Hong Kong port - would assume a 2-4 day wait now for shipping and customs and then the turnaround once they get to Hak5 HQ!

WeatherTech. I'm not trying to be a jerk (and I know it's tough to judge tone on the internet) but you don't know if they will be here within the next week or so. I'm a patient person but I get frustrated when every date we've been told they would arrive has passed. I would be ok with that if I was kept updated as to what was going on. The only time we got any updates is when we come to the forums and ask. So there is nothing wrong with asking after each date we are told.

I'll admit, I was pretty annoyed at the beginning of the month because I ordered mine and expected it to be shipped on time. They didn't notify me of any delay until a couple days after I emailed to ask why it wasn't shipped. That's the only email I received from the team there.. The email said 2 weeks and 2 weeks passed without hearing from them again. Not everyone who buys stuff from the shop comes to the forums to search for updates on what they buy. We should have been emailed with an update.

I normally don't read forums because they're difficult to find what you're looking for because they get cluttered with posts (like this one) that don't help the topic much. I only came here to get updates after finding out it was the only way they were notifying anyone who bought the tetra.

And Darren, I realize it's out of your control. I'm not faulting you for the delay. I know you guys put your heart in to everything you do. I just want to be kept updated.

  13. Great news! They've left the port and I have tracking ^_^

I'll update as soon as it updates with an ETA.

It shouldn't be long now!

Thanks everyone so much for the patience!

I feel terrible about this since so much of it is out of my hands. I'm sincerely sorry for the delay. I was just assured that they would be leaving the port by air on the 2nd. Since they're going by air it should only be 2 days before we receive them. We have everything we need to ship them out and we'll be setup to turn them around as quick as possible - hopefully same day if they come before 3 pm. I assure you we've done everything we can to mitigate any further delay.

Everyone at Hak5 is prepared to jump in to fulfill the first batch as soon as they arrive. I put a hold on any new orders as soon as we confirmed that replacements were needed -- otherwise if it were software I'd be reflashing each unit by hand myself. We will not need to substantially delay fulfillment for testing once they arrive since the procedure has been verified on our development units. The RF shielding components were enhanced for system stability.

Again I can't apologize enough. I'm sorry I let you all down. If there's anything I can do to make the experience better for you please let Sara or I know.

Did they just leave the port in Hong Kong? or the port in the US?

I'm hoping US since you were assured they would be leaving the Hong Kong port by air 2 days ago :-)

  14. Hey Darren,

Can we get another update on the Tetra? I ordered mine on the 2nd and on the 4th you said it was about a 2 week delay. 2 weeks came and went. 5 days ago you said it was in line to get on a plane and you should have them within 2 - 4 days. Have they arrived yet?

When you get them, will you need time to test to confirm that the original issue isn't still an issue? Can you clarify a bit more what the actual issue was with them?
