    Thanks for the responses. Thanks also Crazy Clown I guess that answers my question. I just didn't want to buy a wifi adapter and not have it work on my machine. I was just feeling extra skeptical after troubleshooting my Kali install on my macbook pro.

    Thanks @alcatos also- I've got Kali 1.1 booted ok and so far it was just the wireless thing that was causing me issues- hopefully that's resolved now- next step is to try it with the wireless adapter and keep my fingers crossed!

    I'm not sure how to close this topic but if possible I'll take crazyclowns response as an answer.

    WIFI Connection issues/Kali Installation

    I had a similar problem on my mid 2009 macbook pro.

    I could see networks in Kali but not connect to my home's wifi. At one point I actually was able to connect and I tried to run reaver then (putting my card into monitor mode, my own mistake after I learned the chip didn't support packet injection)... But when I tried to bring back up my wlan interface I couldn't connect again to my home AP.

    After a few days I thought about re-installing kali but instead, booted into my mac and deleted my AP info from System Preferences --> Network --> Wifi --> Advanced

    Re-booted, booted back into Kali and success!

    Tested a couple of other times by saving my AP's details in OS X and failing to connect in Kali - but haven't exhausted all possibiliites. Just a suggestion anyway!

    1. Yes, get the Alfa AWUS036NHA, works straight out the box.

    2. Not really sure what you mean but you should do just fine with any Linux support forum.

    I wouldn't really recommend Kali unless you know what you are doing, Ubuntu would have been a better option.

    What I meant was - because my laptop is essentially a Macbook pro- should the adapter I buy specify that it supports Mac OS?

    I didn't think this would've been a problem but because of the issues associated with connecting to my wifi it doesn't seem like everything is separated as such.

    So to try and be as clear and succinct as I can be.

    The real question

    My laptop is a Macbook pro but I'm booting to Kali OS - when buying an adapter should I look that it supports the Mac OS even though I'll be booting into linux?

    For example the Alfa AWUS036NHA doesn't support Mac OS but the Alfa AWUS036NH does.

    decisions decisions... :unsure:

    I've got some books on kali and hoping to learn a bit more about pentesting- that's why I'm using it.

    Hi guys.

    Situation

    So I've had some pineapple issues and currently waiting on receiving a new one.

    In the meantime I thought I'd partition my macbook and try installing Kali linux on it! (great fun :grin: )

    These are the specs I'm working with:

    Macbook pro (mid 2009) 10.10 Yosemite - BCM43xxx wireless card

    Kali Linux (dual boot) 1.1

    Question

    1 - My n00b question is has anyone any experience with wireless usb adapters supporting packet injection?

    2 - Even though I'm dual booting into Kali should I be concerned that the hardware is Mac OS X and should I be specifically looking for Mac OS X support from vendors?

    Or because I'm dual booting, is Linux support ok?

    On a side note, not sure if anyone had this issue but when I was booting into Kali I was getting some weird stuff like not seeing my home wifi - and when I intermittently saw it I couldn't log-in successfully. When I deleted my home network from the Sys Preferences--> Network Panel and booted into Kali I was then able to log-in successfully!

    I have had my Mark V for about a week now and I have no issues with PineAP. Well I take that back. When using PineAP I would use a third wifi adapter to connect to a Wi-Fi AP and it would shut down all of my WLAN's until I did a factory reset.

    Have you tried a Firmware re-flash? Make sure you use the Ethernet cable to connect to you laptop or pc.

    If you try to run Wlan1 in client mode while also trying to use PineAP I don't think it will work correctly.

    I've factory reset, re-flashed, and unbricked but no joy :(

    Correct, PineAP won't work with Wlan1 enabled. It needs to be disabled because it actually needs to be in monitor mode ( I believe )

    My problem is that PineAP won't actually start at all. From the tile it seems enabled but within the tile it says

    "PineAp is not running. Cannot load settings."

    Just for some sanity testing I was trying to connect in Client mode and noticed wlan1 wasn't operational which lead me to the the "[help] wlan1 gone !" post, which seems to reflect exactly what I'm experiencing.

    Above steps ddn’t work- in fact I couldn’t even find the wlan1 interface.



    So I found this link

    Googling that mentioned having to do a factory reset and not having the Wifi manager(?) infusion… I didn’t have that infusion installed but instead tried it anyway. I now have the


    wlan0 and wlan0-1 interface available. Is this right? I’m currently connected via ethernet but from the Network infusion I can no longer get Client mode enabled.

    in WiFi Pineapple Mark V

    So I got my pineapple Mark V about a month ago- I’m new to it and just learning the ropes.



    Setup:


    Macbook running Yosemite 10.10.2 and using @TGYK's ICS script to get connected via Ethernet.



    Problem:


    About a week ago I was able to successfully run the PineAP suite and was even able to get a couple of clients connected. However when I’m trying again- I can’t see my SSID list populate my list of available networks or get PineAP running.



    Attempts to fix:


    Said ‘screw it’ I’ll do a factory reset, format SD card, run any updates I can find.



    Results:



    PineAP is using over 90% of the CPU can this be right?

    Except when I enable the PineAP suite, go to the PineAP tile and check the PineAP Configuration it says

    I click Start Now and it seems to have generated another pineap process
