I did a factory reset, set the Pineapple up from scratch and everything is now working correctly. The ARP table now has 3 entries instead of two and the open access point called Pineapple_5** is actually open.

Ok so I grabbed a fresh log and the error I'm seeing in between probe requests is this: wlan0: STA 00:11:22:33:44:55 IEEE 802.11: No WPA/RSN IE in association request A little bit of reading suggest maybe a driver problem although this should work straight out o the box I would hope. The only problem I have had other than this one is the very first time I started the Pineapple, it asked me for a password, then after entering the password it said to follow the setup steps. I waited for about 15-20 minutes while it was hung on that screen so I decided to restart the Pineapple and it basically continued on from there with no problems. I might try a refresh and re-do the firmware. If that doesn't work I'll back peddle the firmware one level and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check the logs and report back. No, the real network isn't close. I've tried to connect to 'known' ones with my Android and two laptops but unsuccessfully. Shouldn't I be able to connect to ANY open network that the Pineapple generates? If I make the secure management network the same as a known network with the same password, it auto connects every time but I assumed the Open network was supposed to be open.

Hi, first of all, I'm sorry if this has been covered already but I did quite a bit of searching and read through 3 pages of topics and the common questions without finding an answer. Starting the pinapple is fine. I upgraded to the latest firmware without any errors (2.2.0). Infusions install properly etc. Harvester and Karma seem to work fine but I cannot connect to the open access points created. Example: Harvester and Karma work together and create a dozen APs (all open access) and I grab my phone (or laptop) and try to physically connect to any of them....no luck. The other problem I have is that under the 'Network' tile configuration in 'Access Point' there is two sections: 1. Open Access Point and 2. Secure Management Access Point. The Open Access Point SSID is created as well as the Secure one, however the one that's supposed to be open is secured with WPA2. Changing it from hidden to not-hidden doesn't change anything and disabling the secure management AP doesn't change it either. I think it is a command problem but unsure. I used to do all this stuff on my laptop about 2 years ago so I'm a little rusty but qiute capable if anyone can point me in the right direction. Any help is greatly appreciated.
