Can you explain why?

Hey guys, I have some questions about how well this may work. I would like to try putting pinapple frimware on a wrt54g dd-wrt router (old and unlocked). I wan't to do this to try it out before I buy a pinapple. However, I need to know if: The pinapple firmware run on top of OpenWrt or is it a vertion itself? Would 2.1.1 be a working build for a wrt54g? is there any other reason this would fail!? I hope that these questions are reasonable, cheers!
