I have seen this one on my radar newbi3 what personally keeps you using arch ? what features keep you loyal etc?

Hi all, I did not see a thread pertaining specifically to the distros or for that matter OS's that we use. The last time I hands on used linux was in 2000 in a business environment. I basically bluffed my way into the position as the owner was riding the Hype train for red hat. He didn't even know how to use it but wanted it as part of his infrastructure. I was a 16 yo drop out who basically said fuck yeah I'll try and make it do something for $350 a week LOL. After that, I did not actually have much of a thing for linux, I appreciated its Efficiency but it came with alot of shit I just did not need installed or even available to me. And how the #! do you install an application lol. I could not understand why we could not just have installers like a damn windows box. I mean talk about shell elitism "real men use command line" . Anyway, I have been watching and learning quietly in the background, since have played with fedora and open SUSE, and Debian naturally, but the question begs.. I am seeing alot of very polished looking distros now that are minimalist in nature and so forth with the likes of Elementary OS and CrunchBang standing out for me. I simply ask, Is there any real core function one is missing out on by using one of these distros as opposed to installing for example, vanilla Debian if you will ? Or is as simple as "Here I'm Debian, Ubuntu whatever full-blown with everything installed use me" or "Hi im #! not much on me but you can add what you like im still Debian at my core" ??? I understand how to connect to the Pineapple via SSH, what I do not understand is how to set up things such as the keys and what should go where. Specifically for the Mark 5. I would be grateful as well as other newbro's that might be too shy to ask if someone could explain how to use this feature? In the mean time i'm off to scour the net for answers !

Hi all, new owner here. First off, amazing service! Never had a better international delivery! So props to the hak5 team. Now.. I threw this together last night your looking at a 5 watt panel on a 6.5ah sealed lead acid under the hot Australian sun. She's got a 8amp charge controller I had lying around with a 12v vreg keeping it at a stable 12.1 volt in the sun. I understand the pineapple has a vreg also so this should stabilise things, the switch is detachable or can become a multitap if you wish, I need to rewire the panel to be disconnectable, this I'll do once I have one of those rugged cases. By the way this fits perfectly on top :) . Now if anyone could point me a link where I can learn how to set the dips etc to auto run pine ap for war walking or something I'd appreciate it I'm still very new to linux despite exposure for years. Thanks to the op for all the inspiration and to all of you that commented so I could arrive at this :)

When I turn wlan0 on the blue led stay's on, is this intended? With wlan1 on there is no light ? I thought the blue on was an indicator of the flash process?

The Company I work for has deployed T440's and W530's Both I think are fantastic but ooh so pricey, the rolls royce really. I'm looking at the w530, I know its expense but I just think there is not alot of zazz in the design of laptops at the moment, they look cheap and flimsy, Lenovo's look at least like that can handle some use. Its that classic feel.

Hi all, New owner here, I'm noticing that wifipineapple.com is down and i am having a hell of a time getting this baby on the net as I can't dl the script, any help appreciated or a thread that explains how to do this manually ? Im on Linux.
