  1. Several years ago I was staying in a hotel. One of the TV channels was suffering from poor reception so I undertook a channel tune. To my surprise I discovered that I was able to view the pay porn channel. Apparently the pay channel was activated via an access box. I suppose that these type of systems are now longer in use as digital tv has been introduced. Anyway what do you stand to lose if you do a system scan.
  2. I have been looking at ideas for a travel kit, but the problem is heat dispensation. Here in Oz it can get quite hot so I am doing a lot of design thinking and planning. With regard to a power switch, you can either get a waterproof switch or follow the ideas used by those in the rc submarine community. Some models utilise a magentic switch. Using a magnet you turn the switch on or off
  3. Thanks I will wait and see if the Pineapple comes preflashed. First thing I will do is once i have confirmed that the pineapple is operational is to format the SD card - it will be interesting to see how it aligns partitions etc re the ratio dumpster
  4. badbass it best that you replace the cable run but in the short term you can splice the cables together using the following methods a) terminate both ends of the damaged cable into RJ45 plugs and the use a rj45 joiner to connect the two plugs together (in a emergency you can also use a dual jack with both jacks wired together b) terminate both ends of the cable with gel filled connectors c) use a rj45 jack and punch down both wires onto the same connector d) use a telco cable joiner or a frame I must emphasize that this can only be temporary - the more connections that you have the greater the signal degration is. using a TDR I have been able to see each join on a cable run , also on cat5/6 cabling a single nick on a cable can result in degradation
  5. Hi All I purchased a mark iv secondhand and over a period of a few days managed to get it working and then I bricked it. First Session Powered on Mark IV , couldnt connect Second Session Managed to connect - discovered that pineapple had later version of firmware on it - hence why 172.16.42.1 didnt work but 172.16.42.1:1471 did Third Session Had pineapple working and configured for internet sharing - tested via additional laptop connecting to it Fourth Session Attempted to connect USB flashdrive tried multiple attempts - followed tutorials including reformating usb several times Fifth session checked firmware online ( first successful attempt) and accessing pineapple bar firmware check showed it was uptodate attempted again to mount usb - believed that firmware was corrupt re usb as pineapple would stall with usb connected commenced firmware upgrade - suspect was impatient - after upgrading twice - pineapple appears to be bricked lessons learnt - 1) undertake more research 2) be more paticent 3) have the correct power supplies and leads in order to unbrick Mark IV a) do more research on unbricking b) get correct firmware c) have necessary software installed d) have correct power supply available - do not use usb - power adapter cable ( max 100ma) e) have correct comms gear re comms gear - triple check connections to use - must not connect power re attempting to install usb - only do so with plug pack connected
  6. Hi I have just purchased a Mark V and whilst awaiting its delivery am preparing for its initial use. Rather then use the supplied SD card I have purchased a 32gig Class 10 Sandisk 1) I have formated the SD card as ext 4 with two partitions - 28 gig and 4 gig When my pineapple arrives should I flash it using the supplied SD card or should I flash the pineapple using the 32 gig card 2) Once flashed should I reformat the SD card so that Pineapple has optimised the partitions with regard to the max swap file dumpster
