  1. I just wanted to tell Amish that I was extremly thankful for your autorun technique... while your version of the hack saw is "neat" having the ability to almost completly "auto" run my Port App starter is awsome... For the last year I would do the "Open Folder" and then double click a *.bat file I had made, but now thanks to your autorun.inf technique I just tell it to open folder and my port app menu starts... Thank you again You saved me from shelling out for a U3 tonight. -Sam
  2. Almostageek - Why do you hate Vegas so much? Its been the best video editing software I've ever used?
  3. Faith +1 mentioned this first, I just wanted to expand a little bit. Faith +1 said to use a broad band router as the dhcp server on your network, and of coarse you realize hes refering to a cable/dsl router found in all walmart / tech stores, but if you don't have one lying aroudn I would recomend buying on off the net. While I'm not a big fan of this newegg.com , manny people have been very happy with them, and after looking at their site tonight they have several routers under $25, and they have 8 port switches under $20, I think they had one for $13 or $14. So if you bought the router and switch you could have up to 11 people conected and the router would handle all the IPs for you, if you bought the 5 port switch you could have up to 8 people conected... The thing to keep in mind, and I think you already had a general idea of this, is to not use a hub. Hubs create a lot of un-needed network traffic, and they could cause major havic to your games by not giving you the needed performance. Hope this helps,
  4. W4RP3D you said it hangs during hybernation, but have you experimented with the various "sleep" capabilities of your machine... Many machines can "shutdown" into a sleep mode where they cut everything to minimal power usage, not only do they power down drives but many can power down all the cooling fans because they "turn off" everything that requires cooling, but the great part is that the minimal power they keep on keeps your memory loaded, so you press the button in the morning (keyboard, mouse, or power button) and the machine wakes up power up your hard drive, and typicaly in just a matter of a 10 seconds or so, your back up and running full power... If your system doesn't power down the fans then you could look into a fan control box for your cpu... then at night you when you put the machine to sleep you flip a second switch that throttles down the fans, then in the morning turn the fans on and wake up the computer... Just a couple thoughts hope their helpful Have fun,
  5. I have another question... What size dvd do you plan on making? While the DL disk would definately offer a higher quality video, if you plan on putting more than 1 hour of content on the disk, and I'm also sure that many of us have DL capable drives, but I feel that probably a vast majority of us are almost strictly burning SL dvds... I don't burn DL myself because I don't think they are worth the added expense, so I definatly don't see me buying and burning DL disk to "give away", not trying to stur up problems so I invite all viewers to comment on this too. Do you want the extra quality of the less compressed DL or do you want the readily more available (typically more compatible with older DVD players) and slightly less quality because of higher compression, SL DVD. I say SL DVD but thats only me, so everyone needs to add their 2 cents on this Thanks,
  6. I would sugest encoding your avi files into mpg2 files with vegas... I've always done it this way so that I can see the mpg2 quality before deciding to burn it to dvd, plus if you plan on making chapters with in a clip working with the already compressed file will be less intensive on your pc (i.e. on my old system trying to insert chapters with large avi files in memory would bring my system almost to a complete hault :) ). When done this way the only thing architect has ever had to transcode is the audio stream. But if you really want to let Architect do the transcoding I don't see why it wouldn't work, other than possibly running extremly slow. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions Thanks again for HAK.5
  7. I've been using Sony's DVD Architect 2.0, that came with Vegas 5.0 and have been really happy with it. It has tons of customization capabilities... like controlling what buttons on the DVD remote do, in other words it wouldn't be to hard to use it to make a hidden section of the dvd when the correct button on the remote was pushed (bring on the easter eggs) :D Plus if you are comfortable with sony vegas, which I think is what you have been using, then the DVD Architect realy flows well as far as controls and navigating through the program. If you have any questions about the software I would love the oputunity to try and help... I've made 2 DVDs using the Sony Vegas and DVD Architect... You'll have to forgive me but I also made 5 dvds with Pinacle Studio 9  I know it was a mistake but it was all I had available to me, so I dressed it up with photoshop to hide my lack of experience in knowing it wasn't the program to use. That said I hope you got the hint to STAY AWAY from Studio unless you want a big headache :) Hope to hear from you guys, PS - I love this, I was actually thinking about doing something like this with my AVI downloads of the show, but a mix from the original content would be better, Can't waite Thanks,
