  1. High performance (great screen, 4g, etc) is directly opposed to good battery life. Decide which you can live without, or if you have to weight yourself down with an extra juice pack, that's life ;-)
  2. A big 'ol laptop that you don't care much about, then install Kali on it :-) (If this replaces Windows XPired then all the better)
  3. Indeed, I'm sure they get a lot of emails.
  4. 1st email to shot implied that I was responsible for return postage (even though this is contrary to our national laws). 2nd email to shop has remained unanswered. Starting a thread to ask if anyone had resolved an issue when host is reporting "Network Cable Unplugged" was not the same as this, no one will read this thread if they think it concerns unbricking, when they might well confirm/deny resolution to the "Network Cable Unplugged" query. Conflating everything on to one thread only serves to hide my separate question, which I assume was due to the negative connotations.
  5. Flashed to 1.1.0 as suggested elsewhere - still see "Network Cable Unplugged" Also tried "Recovery Mode" in the new firmware - still see "Network Cable Unplugged" This feels 100% like a hardware fault that is going to require additional cost to resolve. It is not cleasr to be (and I'm not allowed to ask) if others have had this problem and only been able to resolve it by having the unit replaced.
  6. oh, don't worry, I've followed the steps, I get the same response; host claims network cable unplugged. it feels very much like there is a hardware problem with the ethernet port. (Yes, different compuyters and cables tried, all of which are "known good" (seen working in other situations).
  7. Can you connect via wifi, go to the Pineapple home screen. select the network box so that it lists all of the details (it'll show a bunch of text separated out against "eth0", "lo", "wlan0" and "wlan1"). Copy and paste that text here...
  8. Unlike Amazon, I don't think UPS show when an item is "At NSA waiting for interdiction upgrade" - https://twitter.com/puellavulnerata/status/426597381727989760/photo/1 ;-)
  9. The recovery steps on page 18 require a physical connection. At that point the host computer reports "Network Cable Unplugged" and, therefore no connection is possible. I started another thread to ask how else to perform the recovery (e.g. by placing the stager.bin file directly onto the Pineapple (I can ssh in via wlan), but apparently that counts as the same issue and has upset the admins :-P Admins: Feel free to ban me, I'm past caring.
  10. If I've got a Mk V that doesn't have a lan cable I can't quite follow the reflashing instructions (reset and connect via cable to 192.168.1.1). So I want to push the "stager.bin" via wifi... but where does this file need to go to. The instructions say to use the "upload" link on the web page, but I can't access the web interface, I just want to dump the file to directly where it will be accessed, where is that ? Many thanks Steve
  11. Hopefully to save anyone else wasting an evening like I just have! The MD5 Checksums on this page: https://wifipineapple.com/?downloads are *not* the MD5 Checksums of the ZIP Download files (as I type this it is kinda obvious because there are two download links). I guess the binary download link is the same as is inside the zip). So, download and then unzip, then check the MD5 Checksum of the extracted "upgrade.bin" file agsinst the specified value. A note clarifying the situation on that page would be useful (well, would have saved my evening, anyway).
  12. Me too</aol> New Mk V, worked briefly, then constant "Network Cable Unplugged".
  13. Are you guys seeing the network being reported as "Network Cable Unplugged" ? If so this looks like a major problem that is affecting quite a few units. I'm smelling a QC problem. I'm now faced with a massive hike in purchase costs (to return the unit, and pay further charges for the replacement) or just binning it. Either will leave a sour taste. :-(
  14. Hi, Just wondering. NB: I've tried different network cables, etc MTIA
  15. I've also a bricked unit, and now finding lots of reports in these forums of people with problems. This is a bit disappointing, and particularly annoying for a foreign buyer.
  16. Hi, I've got a semi-bricked Mk v - see other post, in that the Network Port appears to be dead. I note that I can connect to 172.16.42.1:1471, which shows the pulsing pineapple and a "continue" link. However, selecting continue, simply re-directs me to the same page. I was rather hoping that it'd take me to the main menu page :-( Is there a different URL for that ? Thanks Oh, this is via an Android 'phone, btw. Steve
  17. Hi, Once the initial install has been performed is the SD card supposed to be removed ? I'm guessing that leaving it in will force a re-flash on each boot, as it will see that the install files. Thanks.
  18. Hi, I got my Mk V today. Initial setup went ok, but then I got stick with a "entropy bunny" no matter what I tried to do, so I foolishly decided to do a power cycle. Since then the connected computer just reports "Network Cable Unplugged". I've tried the various dip settings (UUDDU, UUUUD, etc), to no joy. I can't follow the flashing instructions as they assume network connectivity - which I've not got. Is that the end of the line, already :-( Steve PS I used a ">" character in my root password, sorry, wasn't thinking.
