I found now mitmproxy. Is it possible without an ethernet or in a public wlan?

Hey guys, i tried to record my traffic (mobile too). First with wireshark, but the most of it is SSL (for example whatsapp), so it didn't work or neither i didn't get it :O After that i tried it with burp... But I didn't get it how to get it work?! I just want to see my own whatsapp traffic... Some could explain it to me? Im using an Iphone 5 and a MBPr.... Have a nice day Regards
