  1. https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/30962-pineapple-rtl8187-temperatures/?p=237606 We were about to have some fun but Seb put an end to that :( I'm sure my warranty is up by now.
  2. That has been deemed as trolling. https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/32051-basic-pineapple-questions/?p=239911
  3. Are you saying that Darren "Jumped the shark"?
  4. I was reading up on the forum and saw that 1.3.0 was available. I was still at 1.1.0 so I upgraded, then I started to lose track of what I was doing. I ate dinner and started up the online game War Thunder. It's about WWII planes, dogfighting, bombing etc.. I played about 2 hours and realize that my fish hadn't been fed for some reason. I flip over to IE and tried to log into my fish tank controller with no luck. What the heck! I check my internet connection and saw that I was still connected to the pineapple and not my home network. Holy Cow! I played 2 hours of this intense, high graphics, fast action game with no lag at all through my pineapple. Speeds still suck, about 3-5 Mbps but my ping was 30ms and I didn't notice any packet loss. I would have never expected that from the pineapple. Thanks guys!
  5. Wait. I am not telling you to do it. I'm just saying that I haven't had a problem doing it.
  6. This is primarily why I use it.
  7. The one I got was DOA also. I had another from an old gps so it didn't bother me at the time.
  8. The specs of the pineapple are 5v-12v. However, all my deployment packs are 12v batteries that are 13.5v on full charge. I have had no problem running the pineapple on these batteries. In fact, Darren mentions deploying a pineapple using a car battery in a flower pot for days. I don't see an issue with the regulator you ordered. I was looking at one of these when I use my stealth car case with my pineapple and need to restart the engine to move it to a new spot, I was afraid of spikes from the starter.
  9. I agree with this. My experience with the hakshop has been less than positive, but I get what they are trying to do. A small group of people trying to fund what they love to do, not get rich from it. Looking at the pineapple, the components involved, the software etc.. I would have been happy to pay $200 for it 'if' it was bug free and had felt the right to complain if it had problems (my opinion). For them to sell it at $99, I can't see much room for profit here. My pineapple came with a dead sd card, I had another and didn't want to make a big deal about something that cost 2 bux. The antennas are advertised as 6dbi but just happen to look like and are the exact size of other 2dbi antennas on the internet (I have not done any testing, just opinion). My radios don't work as advertised either but you know what? I lerned more about Linux and pen testing concepts than using my Kali laptop alone. I look at the pineapple almost as the "Heath Kit" of pen testing. I also get that Hak5 is also "Hak5 LLC" and comes with further responsibilities than just having fun and funding a show. A business big or small, an unhappy customer has a right to complain and Hak5 has provided us with a forum to do it in. Back on topic.. Look at the pineapple as one tool in your belt. Learn how it works and you can get around most these bugs. When you find a bug, report it and hopefully someone will listen. Also, the more famous Darren gets, the more people will listen, the more people will create countermeasures for the Pineapple, the more we will have to find new ways to have fun fucking with people. A vicious cycle.
  10. Watching for the 'official' answer, mine hasn't worked in a long time.
  11. It's the batteries that will die first.. I recently deployed mine in the teens. Black case, pluck foam in the case and the pineapple flush against the batteries. The pineapple kept everything warm enough for my 48hr battery case.
  12. Name your ssid 'attwifi' and you pretty much don't even need karma running.
  13. I found that Perl is broken into 30 or so packages. It was a matter of finding the right ones. I think the only one left is ssl.pm Can't locate Net/SSLeay.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.10 .) at /usr/lib/perl5/5.10/IO/Socket/SSL.pm line 17 The hunt continues.
  14. I'm looking to install slowloris.pl . It requires more perl than is in the opkg manager if that makes sense. The Perl in the opkg manager basically only installs one file.. /usr/lib/perl5/5.10/Socket.pm Specifically I get this error. Can't locate strict.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.10 .) at slowloris.pl line 2. I tried several different ways to get strict.pm installed but have no success. Any tips?
  15. Lots of schools that I have dealt with will throw down a Porn Challenge of something like that. They offer some sort of non monetary prize if you can show the teacher porn on the pc from the internet. It's usually done in one of the computer classes. It's a good way to get the students to reverse pen-test your firewall for nothing more than "extra credit". Usually vpn tunnels are locked out.
  16. I have a 15dbi HG2415U-PRO on my roof on a 10ft mast with 15 feet of ca400 cable to an alfa in the attic with an active 32foot usb extension cable to my pc. I can airdrop all of my neighbors in a 2 block radius. I also tried out the pineapple in the attic on this antenna on wlan0. It didn't do as well as the alfa because the tx power is locked at 18 but it's fun to do. Edit, I think I only loose 1db over 15 feet with this cable.
  17. Search http://hashcat.net/forum/ for your video card. I have a msi GTX 680 and I get about 50,000 passwords/sec with it and that is pretty slow compared to the higher end cards.
  18. I emailed them 3 times in a months time with no response. I got the auto-reply so I know they got it.
  19. No WPS :( I surveyed the outside of the building with cell phone + wifi analyzer today and found a much better location with better signal from the AP. I tried chopchop by itself on my home test router and couldn't get it to work without errors. Something about a non compatible card or whatever. I tried the pineapple and kali with an alfa and got the same errors. I know that once a client connects to it, it is pwned. But it appears abandoned and forgotten about.
  20. Here's what you do and it's not as hard as you think.. Get in trouble with one of your teachers and get sent to the principals office.. When you are waiting in the lobby and the secretary gets up to go to the bathroom or something, quickly run over to her desk. Above one of the drawers there should be a pull out table of sorts. There should be a piece of paper taped on there with all of the passwords. Trust me, this never fails and it is far cheaper than buying a roof antenna for your router. Seriously though, I had an imagination like that back in school. All I can say is to give it a shot. If you fail you will learn from your mistakes and you will know more than when you started. Metal locker = Faraday cage 1.5 miles on a farm isn't so bad but 1.5 miles in the city = a lot of interference.
  21. The pineapple is great at being compact and easily hideable. However, it's true that I learned more tinkering with the pineapple than I did just using Kali. I think that if you load VMware + Kali Linux on your school laptop + an Alfa card, you can have a great relationship between the two. For instance, you can capture wpa2 handshakes with the pineapple and bring them back to your pc to crack them. Cracking passwords with just the pineapple is painfully slow. As for the question, I cant think of a reason that I ever needed to open a port on anything besides the reverse ssh tunnel and that was a server at home.
  22. Because of NAT, you, or the first 'victim' should only need to log into that once and then all other connections should not see it. I forget which one, but one of Darrens episodes specifically explains this.
