i received my dongle but i can't post about how it works. I was pulling my hair out trying to get it to connect for hours last night then thought to test it on my mac, and I get a no sim card inserted error, so apparently the guy at t-mobile didn't activate my sim card or device is jacked. So ill make a trip in tomorrow and hopefully get it running.

install.sh isn't working for me.
im getting
install.sh: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `<'

I agree with Sebkinne, go with the higher voltage. when I use my 5v supply I do get stability issues under high load, sometimes the sd doesn't mount. But I just disconnect and connect to either my 9v or 12v and all is well

After going to Walmart, target t-mobile. I could not find a usb stick modem anywhere. T-mobile said they are no longer selling those only hotspots. So I ordered this one from amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0067BN116/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1386303633&sr=8-2π=SY200. I'll update how it works when I get it.

hmmmm, i think im missing something. I also get allot of probe requests but I also get a crap load of connections, so many that i have thought about trying to work in a max number of clients allowed so as not to jam up my data to such a slow rate. Everything from iphones, laptops, desktops and androids. Karma works awesome for me.

Im still the first to fry the pineapple but i would bet that the + and - got switched while wiring, same thing that happened to me with my first MKV, I got careless and in a hurry.
-
i would go with either the 9v or the 12v configuration, when i tested with a 5v configuration it would become unstable in a shorter period of time. i am running mine with this DC-DC converter http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009HPB1OI/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 i have it set to output 9v because some of my batteries I was messing with at full charge actually put out almost 13v and I have been getting some real good uptimes.

i install all to sd card also, for the same reasons as @yabasoya, easy update or reflash.
-
because calling it a wifi kumquat would just be silly.

great idea. +1

I say buy it. It's relatively cheap. Same as a couple fancy dinners out with the old lady. The pineapple GUI is very straight forward but then you get sucked in and spend many hours diving in deeper, as deep as you want. The pineapple has been more of a learning tool for me.

looks pretty solid so far, been running karma, sslstrip, tcpdump for about 4 hours straight and nothing seems wanky. stripping well and passing data just fine. Thanks Seb!! and all else who have their hands in this.

yup ive pineappled myself a couple times, the blacklists work great. And i agree their coffee isn't really all that great but 25 DEATH'S might be a little harsh.

Should we erase the infusion folders off the sd card before reinstalling the infusions or just go ahead and reinstall? Btw, awesome job !! Thanks

after you cd into your sd try and make a file. I had a similar problem, i could cd into it and list but could not write, it thought it was full. I had to format the card then all was well again.

Yup , same thing here. I haven't tried it with 1.0.1 yet. Maybe tonight.
-
yup me neither, not seing this error.

king-crimson, I haven't been able to do any distance tests but the quality and signal has drastically increased.

I purchased a couple of these adapters, and they work great.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005H488Y4/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and this 19 dbi alfa panel antenna, which I am very impressed with.

i had to add "uci commit wireless" to get the network to come up. so i ended up with
cp /sd/wirelessFileName /etc/config/wireless; uci commit wireless; wifi
and this works fine for me.
-
worked for me, thanks
-
ahhhh, but its only 11:30PM here, and I have tomorrow off. ok I guess ill quit screwing with this one tonight and mess with another brain teaser.
-
yes sir thats right. that adapter is what I bought and it works fine. the difference is the center pin in the connectors. The outside threads are the same so it will feel and look like it is connected but if you look closely you'll see that there is actually no connection being made. So the adapter linked to on Amazon has the center pin on both ends of the adapter.

jjd is right, the antennas are not the correct connection. the antennas are most likely rp-sma and the MKV is sma. they will screw on but there is no actual connection. this was discussed in this thread.
https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/30686-mark-v-has-sma-connector-antenna/?p=231130
and this one
https://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/30802-7dbi-panel-antenna/?p=231961
I would put the original antenna back on till you get an adapter, you can damage the radios by essentially running them with no antenna attached. by the way I can't wait to see where you take this project, I am very interested.
Recommended 21 Mbps (HSPA+) 3G dongle?

went to t-mobile and got a replacement sim and still no luck. "no sim card" error. t-mobile tried to run it on their machine and same thing, so apparently defective device. back to the shopping board.
