  1. Nice, ...that helps a lot , thanks. And of course, from that point on, I just connect to the pineapple UI the same way ? Also, on my laptop's list of available networks, the pineapple shows up as "pineapple". I thought that by leaving the persistent checkbox unticked in the karma config screen, the SSID would mimic other SSIDs. After all, no one would knowingly connect to some weird SSID like "pineapple", right?
  2. Also, do I keep it hardwired in order to connect it to an AP, then disconnect the cable, and carry on from there, ie: connect my laptop to the pineapple SSID ?
  3. Of course not... it was just bugging me that I could play with this thing hardwired, but couldn't make it work wirelessly. SO when you say connect to the karma broadcasting SSID, do you mean the pineapple SSID ? I can see it show up on the list of available networks, obviously.
  4. Hi all, My questions seem basic, but I don't know the answer. My pineapple works fine, and I've enjoyed exploring it. I'm running win7, and have configured the network adapters appropriately, in order to use the pineapple via ethernet cable. My question is this: how would I configure this for remote use ? I've watched the video on using the pineapple in client mode, and I understand that, but how would I then access the pineapple myself ? Hypothetical scenario- I've set the pineapple to client mode and connected to some free wifi. I've placed it somewhere out of the way. Now I am sitting nearby with my laptop, and want to access, in order to "do stuff". For that matter, when I am initially connecting the pineapple in client mode, I am assuming I will do this from my laptop, with the device connected via ethernet cable ? Sorry if this seems really elementary. As I said, I'm ok with it hardwired to my laptop, but I'd like to experiment with it "remotely". Thanks for any help.
  5. just as a point of interest, the device is working, as I am getting active intel from Karma...
  6. will unplugging with the blue light sitll blinking cause any damage ?
  7. ...and I have a few, probably stupid, questions. It's been plugged in now for about an hour, and is still blinking blue, which is supposed to mean that its flashing. I plugged the ethernet cable in after 5 mins, now the amber light is flashing too. Here's my question : do I still need the SD card in for this to work ? I thought that after the initial install, it wasn't necessary. Also, can I unplug the mK5 even though the blue light is still blinking ? Finally, I once had a mK4, and there was a bunch of stuff that needed to be configured in my adapter settings (win7). If I remember correctly, that's not the case with the mK5 ? Thanks for any help.
  8. Yes, I'd like to express my gratitude for how quickly and effortlessly I was able to get this up and running ! Havent played around too much yet, but the setup was a breeze, and was monitoring traffic within 10 mins of unboxing ! Thanks so much for a vastly improved product !
  9. Great explanation, thanks ! I'll keep my eyes peeled for a yagi on ebay or amazon, while googling for various antennae configurations. I've got various things on the go right now in terms of tech projects, but this sounds reasonably straightforward...thanks again
  10. Pretty straightforward...I'm getting really good results w an Alfa AWUS036NHA and 9dBi antenna, and wanted to try to extend my range. As far as I know, you can get 18dBi from a yagi-uda (correct me if I'm wrong) ? I know I saw Darren use one on an episode of the show, but don't know enough about electronics to know which is suitable. I don't want to fry anything. Any suggestions re: power and strength ? Thanks in advance.
  11. ...is there such a thing ? I looked around but couldn't find anything pertaining to using a Nexus 7 tablet with the pineapple. I do have a terminal app loaded onto the tablet. Is it as simple as plugging a cable from the pineapple USB to the tablet micro-USB, then SSHing to the pineapple IP ?
  12. ...also, when running the script, it gives you values, before asking you for info. Are these default values acceptable for most setups ? I understand that some people might want to tweak that, but all things being equal, am I literally going to enter the same values that being presented in the script ?
