  1. Move along, nothing to see here... :P

  2. It never fails to amuse me when people like this guy, spout their drivel... Hell half the things the pineapple can do, you can do on a mobile phone nowadays, so is it a case of banning mobiles next... Next bandwagon please!
  3. How are you powering the pineapple? 9 times out of 10, most problems that I've ran across seem to be cured by giving the pineapple a bit more juice. Do you still get the same problems when using the mains power supply? If so, then the problem could be down to your SD card itself, do you have another one that you could use? If so I'd give that a whirl, otherwise the only other suggestion I can make is to make a full factory reset, and then format the SD card, and try again from scratch.
  4. Any update on a resolution to this problem Seb? I've not heard anything back from my email to the shop as well...
  5. Fingers crossed for a swift resolution:)
  6. Snap! And just to reiterate, these readings are the same on both battery and mains power.
  7. Hi Seb, yes I did recently receive it, my wife got me it for Christmas, and it was the same tx power on the original firmware, and also the recent update, could it be a bad batch of chips?
  8. If only I was in Aruba... Sigh one can dream. Anyway that clears that little mystery up, but still leaves me with the issue concerning the low output, any ideas anyone?
  9. Thanks for the reply, doing a get on the reg though show's the following... Executing 'iw reg get': country 98: (2402 - 2472 @ 40), (N/A, 20) (5170 - 5250 @ 80), (N/A, 17) (5250 - 5330 @ 80), (N/A, 20), DFS (5490 - 5600 @ 80), (N/A, 24), DFS (5650 - 5710 @ 40), (N/A, 24), DFS (57240 - 63720 @ 2160), (N/A, 40), NO-OUTDOOR Any idea what country 98 is? I know that I can change the power easily using say BO, but it still only changes the other adapters, wlan0 stubbornly sits at 12... :(
  10. Hi all, I'm just wondering what the standard txpower of wlan0 is for most people? Mine seems really low when I do a iwlist txpower, as it comes up at only 12dBm as depicted below. wlan2 unknown transmit-power information. Current Tx-Power=20 dBm (100 mW) mon0 unknown transmit-power information. Current Tx-Power=20 dBm (100 mW) wlan1 unknown transmit-power information. Current Tx-Power=20 dBm (100 mW) wlan0 unknown transmit-power information. Current Tx-Power=12 dBm (15 mW) This seems somewhat low to me, this is both on battery power and using the wall power...
  11. Thanks for the reply, I'm only asking as I was always under the impression that items imported into the UK, but bought as a gift were never subject to taxation, I vaguely remember seeing something about this years ago, but for the life of me, I cannot find it now... Oh hang on... seems I have found what I was looking for here... http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/post/buying.htm This little section from the above link explains all:) ' Gifts sent from outside the EU If you're sending or receiving a gift from outside the EU: Excise Duty is payable on any alcohol or tobacco products Customs Duty is payable if the value of the gift exceeds £135, but will be waived if the amount of duty is £9 or under import VAT is payable if the value of the gift exceeds £36 To qualify as a gift: It must have been sent from a private person outside the EU to a private person(s) in the UK. The Customs Declaration must be completed correctly – see guidance on the customs procedures for goods posted to the UK link below. It must be for the use of either you or your family. There must be no commercial or trade element and it must not have been paid for by the recipient either directly or indirectly. It must be of an occasional nature only - for example for a birthday or anniversary. If it's perfume or toilet water it must be within the allowances described in the earlier section 'Perfume and toilet water'. If the allowances are exceeded than charges apply on the excess. Customs procedures for goods posted to the UK Gifts ordered over the internet - UK tax and duty still due Ordering and paying for goods over the internet to be sent to someone other than you, doesn't count as a gift. The recipient will be liable to UK duty and tax. Buying from abroad on the internet - what to look out for Packages with gifts for more than one person If one package contains several gifts for different people, perhaps family members, then each gift can benefit from the Import VAT £36 gift allowance as long as it's individually: wrapped addressed listed on the Customs Declaration' So Hak5 guys, any of you fancy posting me one out as a private person??? Pretty please :D
  12. Hi guys, been a while since I've visited, but I have been drooling over the mark V for quite some time now, but I'm not overly fond of paying stupid amounts of import taxes etc on my new toy, can anyone tell me if I buy a new pineapple, if I indicate on the shipping form that it is a gift, would I still get charged? Slap me if I'm being a bit thick by all means!
  13. I must admit I do like that case! And I'm toying with the idea of getting one, and a RPi also:)
  14. root is the login, and pineapplesareyummy should be the default password:) Or have you not fully flashed it yet? If so a little hunt around produces this... Default Login For AP121U Web default username and password of the AP121U is admin/admin (username/password) Telnet login in AP121U is root/80546334 (username/password) for firmware version 2.X
  15. I do actually like this, it's snazzy:D And hey so long as it works and does the job:)
  16. Just my little setup, nothing too flashy though, all fits nicely and snugly in that black box, nothing jiggles about when it's in my rucksack:) I could do with a shorter lead from the usb hub to the NHA but meh! It works so why worry :) Oh and for a little bit of range this also fits in my rucksack:D
  17. Been a while since I've been on the forums, glad I popped back, not only a firmware update, but a possible juicy bit of new hardware, think I may have to get my sticky mitts on one of these:)
  18. I don't think your going to get a 100% correct answer as everyone will do something different with their pineapple, what I would suggest is you do a couple of test runs on your own unit, to give you a idea about how much time you will get out of your own set up, but with a minimal setup, 5 - 6 hours at the least is what your looking at.
  19. Actually I think I've just found out what is at fault... At least in my case anyway, it seems my power lead has a tiny break in the USB end, every now and then when the lead flexs, pineapple death happens:( So glennlopez, you might want to do what I have done and double check your power lead, even a tiny break can cause problems, and banging of heads on a desk! To the soldering iron! QUICKLY!!!!!!!! :)
  20. Oh I fully know why it's doing it, I just meant that the fact there are modules advertised for it, that crash it is annoying... I just honestly would like to get away from using a laptop all the time, sorry if it seems like I'm picking on the Pineapple, I'm not, it is a wonderful little bit of kit, and it is only getting better over time:)
  21. I've noticed mine doing the same when I try to use the Reaver module, it runs for so long and then reboot's, not the end of the world, but I would like to be able to use it for this kind of thing from time to time, rather than having to use my laptop:)
  22. The one I had I just simply used as it was, the chipset in it was atheros, so I had no problems using it with the likes of backtrack etc, just popped it in a slot and away it went:) And due to the nature of my job it didn't look out of place in my vehicle. I've already done all of iwconfig stuff, I have no problem getting the pineapple to jump up to 27, but the Alfa... Simply refuses to budge and sticks at 20, but I can unplug it, stick on my laptop and tinker and get 27 no problem! Which needless to say is annoying!!!
  23. Like you I have a Yagi, and I have to say it's come in pretty handy, although for a few years I made do with a Hawking mini parabolic dish, it was just a lot easier to keep out of sight, and if anyone asked what it was, I used to just tell them I was picking up satellite tv with it... This is the latest version of the one I had, still pretty much the same size etc http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833164030 I do like the look of that Backfire though, looks quite promising! As for a mount, I honestly don't think you can go wrong with a gorilla pod they can be used anywhere! :D http://joby.com/gorillapod/original I'm not overly impressed with the Alfa I have though the AWUS036NH, and unfortunately I'm stuck at 20db with it unless I use it on Backtrack, I simply can not get anymore out of it when it's connected to my pineapple, I'm still tinkering though, so hopefully that might change:)
  24. If the above does not work, you might want to try reinstalling python via the opkg manager :) Also thanks for the thanks guys, but like I said in my post, I merely found the post, I didn't find the way, so all kudos should be going to bigw0rm :D
  25. There is a post I've just made that will help you out, http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?/topic/29082-signal-boosting/ And I'm a bit pissed off as I have the awus036nha, seems mine is locked down to 20db, unless I use it on my linux laptop, then I can actually coax it up to 27db, but sadly seeing as I bought it to go hand in hand with my pineapple it's of little use unless someone knows a way to reflash it?
